Taken from the NCAA Basketball thread.

I will only chose players that I actually saw play for Alabama.

1. AJ McCarron - The greatest throwing QB I've ever seen at Alabama, and while Tua may surpass him one day, AJ won 2 National Championships, and was a kick 6 away from winning a third.

2. Minkah Fitzpatrick - Probably the most talented athlete in Alabama history. Absolutely ran out defense for 2 years, and spent a considerable amount of time working on the younger guys to make sure the performances didn't dip after he left. Also, his story about being homeless in New Jersey is just one that movies are made out of. Truly one of the only players in the history of the game that has made me a fan of his team (the Dolphins) for no other reason than the fact that they drafted him.

3. Mark Ingram - The first ever Heisman at Alabama, and the leader of the team that was the first National Championship for Alabama that I ever witnessed (I was 6 in 1992). He also started this line of Running Back at Alabama which included Richardson, Henry, Lacy, Yeldon, Bo, Drake.

4. Shaun Alexander - My first year witnessing a good Alabama team was because of him, Andrew Zow (QB), and Chris Samuels. He was such a good and powerful runner and I will always remember him scoring those 5 TD's against BYU on national TV.

5. Freddie Milons - #15. This cat was unreal back when Alabama was dominating the league. One of the fastest guys I have seen in a Crimson jersey, and was absolutely deadly on punt returns and kick off returns. I will always remember him bringing one back against Florida in the SEC Championship game.

It's hard with Alabama due to a lot of more recent, absolutely studs that we have had, but here are a few more that I considered for this list.

Landon Collins, Dereck Henry, Julio Jones, Amari Cooper, Barrett Jones, Chris Samuels, Dre Kirkpatrick, Jalen Hurts, CJ Mosley, DJ Fluker, Andrew Zow, Leigh Tiffin, Mount Cody, Rueben Foster, Freddie Roach, Tua, Glenn Coffee, Marcell Dareus, Mark Barron, Dont'a Hightower, Courtney Upshaw, Eddie Lacy, Ha-Ha Clinton Dix, Eddie Jackson, Jonathan Allen, OJ Howard, Sunseri, and I'm sure there are more.

Time I actually started paying attention...

1) Tim Dwight - Top returner and one of the top WRs
2) Bob Sanders - Top DB, although King and Jackson are up there
3) Dallas Clark - Top TE, Iowa is up there in TE U
4) Shonn Greene - Best RB for Iowa since I started paying attention
5) Nate Kaeding - Probably best K Iowa ever had

There are many defenders that I can throw in there. Adrian Clayborn, Josey Jewell, Chad Greenway, Jonathan Babineaux, Abdul Hodges, Tyler Sash, Micah Hyde, Carl Davis, Anthony Hitchens, James Morris, AJ Edds, Pat Angerer.

And also OL Robert Gallery, Bryan Bulaga, James Daniels, Austin Blythe, Ike Boettger, Reilly Reiff, Brandon Scherff, Marshal Yanda

It was the late 90s before I really started paying attention.

I'm not sure we've had five in the history of the program! But, I'll try.

1. Don Maynard
2. Seth Joyner
3. Fred Carr
4. David Terrell
5. Tony Tolbert

And I think the rookie (Will Hernandez) currently starting for the Giants may end up being one of the best.

Never realized something until I looked though the list of possible players. While we ain't had that many, it sure seems like a lot of them were Green Bay Packers. Go figure.

Auburn has a many that were great but a few that are really special to me. Most of the players from my youth were only on radio. And being the pre internet era, all I ever read about them was from our local paper's stat line so younger players are still more "known" to me. So my non Bo list of favorites:

1. Shaun Coleman- Overcame cancer after he signed with Auburn and is in the NFL today.
2. Tre Smith- Smaller than Rudy and beat Bama as a starter.
3. Heath Evans- Fullback that converted to halfback. Brute, pure brute.
4. Tony Richardson- best fullback ever.
5. The Big Hurt- Frank Thomas played TE and was kept on football scholarship by Pat Dye while he was playing baseball.

Taken from the NCAA Basketball thread.

Great list and I was just curious if Prothro and the Deuce predated you.
