That doesn't really help your argument. 3D movies ain't going anywhere. They're even making an extra $2/head on tickets.
I meant in Home. Vr... also at Home.

Meh. Tech just has to improve. It will. It always does. IN MY LIFETIME, movies like Lord of The Rings went from being horrible (or else animated) to green screening and rotoscoping being so good, they can win multiple Oscars.

Processing power is going to have to come waaaay up for VR to look like 3D movies do now.

It'll happen though.

Same reason many invest in things like crypto and every IPO (even shitty ones like Snap)...FOMO.

And in the first article I opened that you linked (one of the Bus Insider articles), they talk about how video gaming companies have not been able to transition user generations. That's a problem that I brought up as the typical 50+ year old (maybe even 40+) just isn't into video games as much when they start getting married with kids. Its great for a teen with much free time, but when that responsibility starts, there's less free time for stuff like this.
that age group has representation on twitch.... just so you know.

There's representation, but is it signigficant by any stretch? I mean, more than 70% of Twitch users are 16-34 (and very few over age 45) with the average age of just 21, and there's a good chance that some portion of those in older groups are probably kids lying about their age (similar to the problem Facebook had a few years ago with many kids lying about their age to join).

Plus, who knows whether those legit older users are there for actual gaming purposes or just to oogle the busty gamer chick playing. Pornstars are on Twitch nowadays as an alternative to their webcam stuff.

Athlete With Heaviest Social Interaction Is An E-Sports Gamer Named Ninja

Which iconic athlete would you guess drives the most social media interaction? NBA superstar LeBron James? Soccer's dominating figures, Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi? NFL quarterback Tom Brady?

Actually, it is a 26-year-old gamer named Tyler Blevins, better known by his online name, Ninja. In April, he generated more than 150 million social interactions according to Hookit.com, No. 1 among all athletes.

Ninja plays a very popular video game called Fortnite. It has a Hunger Games-type premise: 100 players start, and only one survives at the end. This afternoon when we logged onto one of Ninja's live streaming sessions, we were amazed to see more than 130,000 avid followers tuning in during the middle of the day to watch Ninja play Fortnite. This simply adds to the 174 million other views he has accrued over time from people tuning into some part of his gameplay on Twitch.

Is video gaming a sport, and are the gamers athletes? It takes incredible reflexes, hand-eye coordination and strategy to master a game like Fortnite, at which Ninja is arguably one of the best, if not the best. If ESPN covers poker as a "sport," then e-sports certainly qualify.

Ninja has created an empire that earns over $6 million annually from the streaming broadcast of his video gaming. He uses a platform called Twitch, where his profile has amassed more than seven million followers. Over 160,000 are paid subscribers, and Ninja receives $3.50 per new subscriber. On YouTube, Ninja's profile has accrued 10.8 million subscribers who watch his recorded streamed sessions, and he is able to monetize that platform via advertising dollars paid by YouTube. The payout he receives grows significantly as his subscribers grow. He has more than two million and four million followers on Twitter and Instagram, respectively, with both accounts continuing to grow daily.

None of this would be possible without the fact that Ninja has a playful and funny personality and is among the best in the world at certain games. He is able to gain revenue from gaming tournaments around the world. He adds to his income through his sponsorships with Red Bull and Razer, to name a few. While he is making a healthy income, he is using his personal platform to enact goodness in the world. Ninja is able to fundraise for charity through the Twitch site and has raised $140,000 of the $500,000 goal he set for himself not too long ago.

The growth of this digital sport is occurring away from the world of television. Sports agencies are starting to sponsor teams, and advertisers are attracted to a youthful demographic. This is a sport ready to explode, and gamers like Ninja are leading the way.

I've dedicated over four decades to my passion for athlete representation and being an agent of change. My client roster has boasted a multitude of premier athletes and “Hall of Famers” spanning over multiple professional sports, including the likes of Steve Young, Troy...

Isn't much of this just due to him putting out more content on social media platforms (particularly YouTube) than athletes? I mean, he's putting out a vid just about everyday, so he's going to rack up a lot of views based on that.

Guys like Lebron, Ronaldo, Neymar etc aren't putting our as much content for people to watch (hence have less interactions), but have far more social media followers...Ronaldo for instance has 141M followers just on Instagram, wheras Blevins has about 39M followers combined between Instagram, YouTube, Twitch and Facebook.

Criteria isnt established, so depending upon who is choosing which platforms are more important stories will differ, rankings will differ... the point i was making is, if football players idolize gaming/gamers... that kinda fucks up "idol hierarchy"... the heroes will be less and less athletes over time and more gamers. I think "pop" music has gone this route as well and is way ahead with alot of whats music today being created by people without much real musical instrument talent...rather just trial and error on a computer.

His arena is online, so it would be expected that his content would also be on line.

I was laid up post-op back in Feb for 3 weeks, and started watching this guy play on twitch. This was right as he was becoming extremely successful. He is quite entertaining.

This also resulted in me watching a lot more "e-sports" now than I watch physical sports. Perhaps because the content is free and I don't have cable TV.

Anyway, I see he's on the front page of ESPN today. Crazy. The guy is pulling in nearly 1 million dollars per month..
Fortnite legend Ninja is living the stream

I think e-sports will overtake physical sports as the older generations leave this world behind. I'm pretty sure they have more viewers today already during big events.
