The future of Gaborik, still not medically cleared to play, is clouded, at best

This explains a lot.
“Gaborik has not been fully cleared health-wise,” Dorion told this newspaper during a meeting Wednesday. “He’s still in L.A. seeing a back specialist. Once he gets here, we’ll have more information. Right now, I can’t tell you more than that.”

But the fact Gaborik won’t be here for the start of camp and isn’t fully recovered after the procedure in April isn’t a good sign. He can be placed on the long-term injury reserve list at the start of the season and approximately 80 per cent of his $4.875 million salary this year will be covered by insurance.

Maybe Mark wants to join his brother in Calgary? Flames still have considerable depth on the blue line and even with the addition of James Kneel could use another guy who can put the puck in the net.

I don't know how much Anderson has left in the tank but that might become an option for Calgary at some point.

Yeah, some Flames fans were speculating that Calgary needs a goalie in case (when) Smith gets injured as Gillies and Rittich still look shaky and Parsons is still a year or two away. Let's revisit this in early November.

Just to summarize, this guy:

1) Basically fabricated a story

2) Threw his employer under the bus for it being "out of context"

3) Tried to make clickbait with a dodgy story because anything negative about the Senators is en vogue right now

4) Could have waited a week and Melnyk and company would have given him all the real world negative material he needs
