This week was a little better for the league because of 3 wins over Pac-12 foes, however Boise State's dud puts a damper on things.

1. San Diego State - They pulled off the biggest win for any team in the MWC so far, upsetting Arizona State and Herm Edwards without QB Christian Chapman. The game ended in wild fashion but San Diego State held on for the big win. Next week is a home game against a tougher than usual Eastern Michigan team.

2. Utah State - It's quite amazing what Utah State is putting on their opponents right now, yet again they won big putting up 72 points but it was only against Tennessee Tech. Now comes a real test as they take on Air Force next at home.

3. Boise State - Disappointing effort by Boise State as Oklahoma State spent the whole game making them look silly. New Years 6 bowl hopes are dead after that dreadful performance, they're still considered the conference favorite by most but knowing Harsin they're due for one more dud in conference play and while they host the two teams ranked above, those two will be ready to pounce. Much needed bye week is next.

4. Fresno State - Fresno State rebounded from their disappointing performance from the week before by laying waste to Chip Kelly and UCLA in a 38-14 dominating performance. Last week's performance still has them ranked a little lower. They get a bye week this week.

5. Hawai'i - It's tight at the top so I may have unfairly punished Hawai'i a bit. They suffered a loss to Army in a terrible body clock game, still they had a chance to win at the end. Army managed to take advantage of Hawai'i's weak defense to keep the ball away from their dangerous offense. Hawai'i will get to rebound as they host Duquesne, which is interesting. Not because Duquesne is good but because it's actually pronounced "Du-kane." It might be because I'm very hungover today but I can't think of any other word where that combination of letters makes that sound.

6. UNLV - UNLV's stayed on the road to bowl eligibility as unlike last year they took care of business against their FCS foe winning 46-17. Now comes a tougher test as they go on the road to face Arkansas State.

7. Air Force - Air Force had a bye week this week, quite early for that which is interesting. Now they open up conference play against Utah State on the road.

8. Nevada - There is a stark drop-off here, Nevada actually did manage to take down a power 5 foe by beating Oregon State. They actually built a big lead early on, taking a 30-7 lead early in the 2nd quarter and they just about blew it but luckily Oregon State missed a short field goal at the end. Nevada does seem to have a good but inconsistent offense, they might be tough to face at home. Next is another tough test as they face Toledo on the road, Toledo isn't a power 5 team but they might actually be the best opponent on Nevada's OOC schedule. Nevada was torched by Oregon State's passing attack which doesn't bode well because Toledo has a very good group of receivers.

9. Wyoming - The offense is struggling for Wyoming. They barely survived Wofford, having a rare moment of competence on offense by charging on a scoring drive at the end to win it. Tyler Vander Waal is clearly nowhere close to being Josh Allen, a stark difference at that. He threw his first TD passes of the season this week. Wyoming has a bye week this week.

10. New Mexico - After several years of randomly dropping games to New Mexico State, New Mexico finally pulled through and took care of business this time, winning in a blowout. Giving Wisconsin a tough time last week doesn't quite look as good now that Wisconsin went down. Lobos are another one of the many teams that have a bye week this week...pretty sure half this conference is taking next week off.

11. Colorado State - I jumped them up in the rankings because of the comeback win over Arkansas last week, but Arkansas just was blown out by North Texas making it clear that Arkansas is simply bad. They gave up 48 points to Florida so the defense is clearly still very bad. Colorado State takes on Illinois State next, Illinois State is actually a tough FCS team so it wouldn't be surprising if Colorado State lost.

12. San Jose State - One of the most surprising things was how they actually put up a fight against Oregon, simply stunning and unexpected since San Jose State is one of the worst teams in college football. Honestly, it might have been a bigger indicator towards how bad Oregon played than improvement for San Jose State. Their best week of the season is this week as they have a bye week, yet they still might manage to lose.

Most of the league had a bye this week, and there were no stunning results...unless you count Colorado State embarrassing themselves as stunning

so I think I'll take a bye week also
