Wtf
sorry jiddy. too early for that argument.225 hitter who strikes out over once per game.
CF hitting 250 in A ball minors...also strikes out over once per game.
Relief pitcher buried on the bench in A ball...but in his brief appearances rocking an almost 7 ERA.
And just to stick it in my craw as Chicago sports like to do: The cherry on top...Kerry Wood lite.
We destroyed Boston...sending them that bum with the era under 2 that averages over a strikeout per inning.

sorry jiddy. too early for that argument.
Nothing to argue. We're OFFICIALLY out now 2 seasons of CY Young caliber pitching and rotting in the dumpster of the MLB with, thus far, pretty much nothing in return. That's the reality as of this moment. Just like the turtle told Kung Fu Panda. "Today is our gift, that is why we call it the present."
Cubs fans do like the whole "better luck next year" idea though and eventually it worked out for them....so you do have that going for you. *fist bump*
this has been rehashed so many times it's ridiculous. you want to lament we gave up a great pitcher ... that's your right. but with him we'd still be right where we are and only looking forward to losing him at the end of his contract .... and getting nothing in return. no matter how you cut what we gave up, we HAD to give that up for the future's sake. to suggest 'nothing in return' is ludicrous at this point. because in a couple years you very well may have to swallow your words.
so make you cub references all you want .... it doesn't change a thing.
and btw, your use of a kung fu panda cartoon tells me a lot. it was a play on words meant to elicit laughter. the 'gift of today' is NOT the reason we refer to the present as ... well, the present.
fine ... but just so you know ... a point by point response is not a rant. a rant is like post #9 in this thread.I'll read that rant and respond eventually...I promise...but my eyes are bleeding. It's not you. It's me. No worries...We've got a few years of horrible baseball to distract ourselves from to hash this out.
well, he should come back full strength starting the 2020 season so while he will be missed i'm not sure it affects the sox's prospects really unless you really think they will compete next year ... which i certainly don't. it all depends on how he comes back. some damn good pitchers have had it and were still great afterwards so .... it's crappy news but not altogether devastating. his attitude seems to be pretty good and that helps plus prospects of a complete recovery are around risen to around 90%. i guess we'll see what he's made of.
amazing fact. tommy john was the first person to have tommy john surgery but lou gehrig was NOT the first person to have lou gehrig's disease.
ok .... not THAT amazing.
