Good move by Earl, this will have the fans feeling better about him. He may not have been here for the "preseason" but he will be here and honor his contract when they count. Question is did he burn too many bridges with his courtship with Garrett in Dallas DURING the season when the playoffs were still a hope. Time will tell and his play on the field could make everyone forget.

Looks like Earl is gonna play on Sunday.... That improves our odds if that's the case...

I would be hesitant to play him until you can access his conditioning. He has the mental discipline & knowledge of the game, no doubt. However, I've never played the game let alone coach it. Just my :2cents:

They’re not re-inventing the defensive scheme, a coach he knows well, and I would bet Earl kept himself in good shape, he’s a pretty disciplined guy... I hear ya though... It is possible they sit him out, but with him we have a better chance...

He's probably been working out on his own, but he hasn't been playing football. Can he get ready in 3 days? I would probably assess him in practice and not rush the decision for Sunday.

I wouldn't play him this weekend. I mean had he been here last week then yes play him but after having maybe 3 days practicing with the team and how many of those will have contact? i sit him for a week.

I don't post on the Hawks board that much, mainly the Mariners. However I must say I think the Hawks handled this Earl situation perfectly so I will commend them for that.

There's pretty much no practices with contact during the season anymore. Sitting him week 1 seems like the prudent move to me.

He is a HOF player. Even w/o practices he will be better than whomever would replace him, which I assume would be McDougal or Thompson.

If sat, it would be to prevent injury via hamstring/groin pull imo... Football conditioning makes a difference imo...

However... If it was me... I play him...

So far... McDougal has been our most productive Safety...

The Rumor i heard is there is another player other than Dallas in the works for Thomas and they were in Discussion and held Thomas out of practice while they were trying to work out a deal. Seeing as he is most likely playing, that deal didn't get worked out i would assume. We will find out on Monday/Tuesday. KC is the other team. Berry/Thomas ( When /if Berry gets healthy ) that's a NASTY little pair of Safeties.

We should have resigned him before it got to this point.

Hmmmm, well, maybe. I guess time will tell if a 3rd contract would have been a good move. Either way, I don't think it excuses some of his antics, with the latest being his missed practices and explaining it in such an unprofessional & team-last kind of way.
