Pillar was actually the first name that popped into my head, however I looked up his offensive numbers and they aren't great. Still an upgrade tho. In all seriousness I would gauge Adam Jones. Not great defensively and not having his best offensive year with free agency pending. There probably aren't a ton of great names out there. The best one would probably be Starling Marte but that's probably too pricey

I thought Jones while we were playing them, but then he was quoted as saying when asked if was to be traded and he said, "10/5" meaning he chooses where he goes. Would he even consider Seattle?

Pillar is about defense and speed. I would take that at the right price.

Marte would cost us more than we probably have though his suspension from last year should drive the price down. You are taking a chance at a year suspension I believe.

Well if the Mariners do plan on giving anything that could back to bite them in the ass for Happ why not just sweeten the deal and get Pillar too? I'm ok with dealing Lewis, really prefer not to deal White though.

But I would deal White as well in the right deal. Happ or Hamels would not be the right deal to trade White in.

That was more along the lines of what I was meaning. A Happ and Pillar deal I don't think warrants trading both. But I'm also for selling high on Lewis right now. Obviously I'd trade both in a split second and give the Rays the money from the naming rights for whatever Safeco will be next year for Snell though.

I think Snell is quietly on the market to see if they can get 4 or 5 top prospects from someone.

I can't imagine Snell would be available at all. Otherwise Archer would've been available last deadline or this offseason IMO. The Ray's can't give up a player who they have so much control over now unless they literally get someone's farm system. You just don't see that unless it's an inept organization like the Mariners with Fister.

Another vet pitcher I was just thinking about that might be of interest to the M's because they were reportedly interested in him last year and that is Ervin Santana. Twins announced they are ready to sell, sell, sell and he should be back by A.S. break. He will be a fresh arm since he hasn't thrown all year and M's can take it slow getting his innings back up.

This will be my pick to click.

Twins have some arms that would be of interest. Santana, Lynn or Odorizzi would all be decent adds to the rotation. Zach Duke would be a nice lefty out of the pen.

Heck their closer would be an interesting fit here. *ducks*

We're in agreement but still very weird his name has been lightly tossed around.

actually i think this is the best trade......better than Toronto ..cuz....Minnesota has the ammo ..where toronto's minors is
almost as bad as the mariners
yeah bruxton would be a good fit for the mariners..as a 5th outfielder for this year...and possibly tradable in the future

there are a lot of possibility's on pitchers there AAA is stacked
but one i like is charlie barnes L/L at there HIGH A which would fit right in At the mariners AA next year

the next thing the mariners need is a replacement for romine..and while the twins do not seem to have a guy
just hanging out..that would be the the guy..pitching would do...and you could always trade that pitching for the middle infielder / utility guy that you want
or keep that pitching and trade miranda or povse or whoever

That's an interesting one. No way Santana would cost anything of significance. Like I've been saying even if the starters keep this up, they need another starter. Outside Leake none of these guys have gone this many innings (Felix hasnt gone this many in a few years)

gotta stack the house first....then trade for who you want....not who you have...to take... cuz it is all you can get

more of a step by step thing

and trading cano would make three or four other trades possible ...if it was for prospects

iiff...you are going to make an.... example..........like on dietary suppliments..then the highest profile player is the one to make an example..out of

i would not

but...i just think ..for the organization..and where the mariners are right now..as a ball club..moving on is the best option

cuz they are winning without him
