I will say this, to a point Wilsons study was more about affirming a pre-established belief than finding a solution. Kind of like saying, dont drop a toaster in the bathtub to avoid getting electrocuted. Specifically option #3 there. There are plenty of MARRIED folks living in poverty even now. I agree that every one should finish high school, and should actually seek higher education. But our education system is viewed as an expense more than an investment, to me thats ass backwards thinking. But then it doesnt shock me with a government that looks at people as cost vs income potential commodities.

As for how institutional racism causes poverty, it alone doesnt. But you cant simply deny its effects on poverty. The long standing practice in this country of paying women and people of color less than white males is part of the institutional/societal excepted norms that have alot to do with the poverty level in this country. More so in fact than single motherhood.

I will also say that it should be very telling about the two different mindsets that mostly Liberals actually WANT to teach our children and attempt to create a better education system for every one, as apposed to the concept that the ability to get a good education should be based on your parents financial ability to pay for said education. The idea that you can only get your child a good education if you make enough to pay for it is an elitist concept that SHOULD have died out in this country 100 years ago, and quite frankly I think it harkens back to a time when education or the ability to even get an education was a by product of your families social status.

Even if not married, how about both parents under the same roof? There are some married people in poverty but look at the percentage.

Our education system in some instances, especially inner cities, is an expense. There are many schools with kids that just don’t want to be there. The kids choose to disrupt the entire class and refuse to do their job. No matter how much we spend on education, we can’t overcome people that won’t work. Some people are costs. If they are not working but are capable, they are a cost.

Again, show me the black or female pay scale. It is bullshit TODAY.

More bullshit. Liberals do not want to teach our children. They want to control our children’s thinking. You may want to go a little more in depth on paying for education. Are you talking college? Are you referring to inner cities education? Are you saying private school is wrong?

To be very honest, everything you are spewing sounds rooted in envy.

OK... I will show you correlations. What this country has historically done, and how they are strangely enough doing it now, just to a different group of people.

When this country was being formed, and the Indians were declared the enemy, it was common practice to take the Indian Children away from their families, send them to christian schools where they were forbade from speaking their native tongue, stripped of their name and taught to be christians.

During Slavery, it was common practice to sell children away from their families. When new slaves were brought in they were stripped of their name, forbidden from speaking in their native tongue, and once again introduced to christ. Bright side, they werent the enemy, they were just property.

Welcome to 2018, where the Mexican is now the enemy. They have tried to enact laws that if you dont speak English, you need to. As we sit here there are children of Mexican heritage (some illegal, some not) being held in government sponsored concentration camps. Bonus though, Christianity is already the predominant religion in Mexico, so thats one less hurdle I guess.

Now I dont know about you, but I see a history of crappy that has spanned over generations and the only thing that has really changed is the enemy.

Nearly every country in the history of the world has a national language. Most countries would kill the children, enslave them, or do the same thing.

Now show me the “concentration camps.” I thought we were holding criminals until they are processed. Silly me.

So this is a case of you deciding your morals should work for everyone.. got it.

The kids choose to disrupt the entire class and refuse to do their job. No matter how much we spend on education, we can’t overcome people that won’t work. Some people are costs. If they are not working but are capable, they are a cost.

And in many cases our schools dont have the resources to handle the class load. These are kids we are talking about after all. It has been shown that there is an optimal teacher to student ratio for the best learning environment.. most of your inner city schools are way over that optimal number.

Again, show me the black or female pay scale. It is bullshit TODAY.

They same could be said of the church.

You may want to go a little more in depth on paying for education. Are you talking college? Are you referring to inner cities education? Are you saying private school is wrong?

Education should be quality and affordable regardless of your parents social status. Getting a college education should not cost more than a house. The more educated skilled workers we have, the better for all of us, regardless of race. Private School is usually a privilege of wealth.

By the way, I get it. When you are going to do something inhumane, its goes over much easier if you declare the victim as an enemy.

I agree some cultures are better than others. As for the whole revenge concept, I can see whee that would be troubling. But reality is, I would much rather there be no real majority not out of some sense of revenge, but out of a sense of actual fairness and cooperation. As long as one group can simply say... well we out number you and out gun you, there will always be cases of inequality. Now i guess thats awesome if you happen to fall in that majority. BUt Im more in favor of balance, to where no one groups issues are marginalized. Where no group gets to feel they are superior because they have the numbers. And the only people I see clinging to the current way of things are those worried about some sort of social revenge if they ever should be out numbered. BUt again I could see as to where that might be a concern.

Sure we should have laws, but those laws should be equal in practice and not just lip service. If they went door to door and said EVERY person currently living here had to show proof that they had a right to be here, I would have no problem with it. BUt I would be willing to bet a weeks pay, if they did that you would get more complaints from the conservative crowd than you would blacks, latinos or liberals in general.

Newsflash...there will always be a majority based on something. You seem to think people give a damn about pigmentation but it is really about thought.

Some groups issues are marginal at best. It is selfishness that makes them think otherwise.

Very few groups think they are superior based on numbers.

Of course some would worry about social revenge because of how some people think and speak.

For the most part, laws are administered equally. There are cases where they are not but that is because humans are involved.

Do you really believe conservatives would complain more? There is nothing in our history that would support your statement. Even if we did, we would do so peacefully. We wouldn’t shoot those enforcing the law.

On a personal note, I would have a problem with it because it would be a violation of the fourth amendment.

Which part is in Humane? Not killing the children? Teaching the children your language so they can become part of society? Teaching them about Christianity because you believe it is best?

And you are starting to sound a bit defensive.

I didn’t decide their morals. I am showing you the percentages. You complain about poverty and we show you the reason. Then you think the solution to the reason is me trying to force my morals on you.

Perhaps you are right on the optimal number. So what is your solution? Should we throw more money at the teachers to get them to teach in the inner cities? Does that guarantee students with no interest in education will become more interested? Again, you are letting the parents, the people actually responsible off the hook.

Gender wage gap...show me the wage gap by actual job. Of course men will earn more than women if more men are doctors and more women are teachers. Show me the gender pay gap at Wal-Mart for a sales associate with eight years experience at Wal-Mart, in the same store, with the same qualifications. I will wait.

Of course the church wants you to believe in what they believe. The church is trying to show you what to believe about Christ or Allah. School is supposed to teach you how to think, not what to think, unless it is fact bas3d.

Every school in the US provides the tools for a quality education. Not every child belongs in college. Why is college so expensive? Ask the liberals. They push for more governmental assistance which drives costs up. They pay for more people to go to college, many of whom do not belong, so that drives up the costs. They go teach a class one day per semester for 450k. Corruption and theft.

Not defensive at all. Just an observation or perception about you.

I agree there will always be a majority of some kind. I just dont think it should be based on race.

And Im sorry to break it to you but there are groups that feel they are superior because of Race, and enjoy that they have the numbers to back up their feeling of superiority.

If some folks did not still feel superior by race, and make a point of showing ass about it, I dont think you would have to worry about other folks wanting some sort of revenge. But the longer the whole Majority is based on race, and not ideals... Houston we have a fucking problem.

I feel pretty safe in saying you would flip your shit if ICE showed up and said we are checking everyone because we are trying to weed out illegals. Because your sense of pride would take it personally that you had to show proof of citizenship because of some damn criminal illegals.

And it isn’t. It is what you look at. Considering most people care about what people think far more than they do pigment, ideology is a far bigger key. But you want to look at race. In a few years, whites will be outnumbered by Latinos, not actually a race, but there will be a new majority.

Of course there are minuscule groups that think like this. There are black groups that think like this. They are called athletes.

The majority is based on characteristics of any kind you choose. You choose race because you feel slighted by it.

Didn’t I just say I have a personal problem with it. It wouldn’t hurt my pride in the least. It would be a violation of the fourth amendment because there is no cause. I would end up showing them my SS card and get rid of them. Now, some people of liberal leanings would be more likely to start an actual fight or shoot the cops, because let’s face it, they are pigs.

People have been trying to dilute the meaning of racist, and white Supremist for years. Its usually the racists and white supremists wanting to dilute the terms. After all, if everything is racist, then nothing is racist. Once you make racism and white supremacy into just a part of the every day norm, well then it no longer becomes a problem to 70% of the country. Because thats just the way things are.

As for speaking against the President, we had eight years of pissed off folks calling him the N-word President, #NotMyPresident, and a whole host of other things. The Current Presidents most important mission seems to be trying to erase or tarnish Obama's legacy, and half the yes RACIST base of his are cheering him on in this effort. So spare me the have some respect for the office line of bullshit, because thats what it is with Trump in there, just a line of BS.

Disagree. Its not socially accepted and its not a norm that even people who feel this way are loud and proud about. I'm not saying you, but if this is felt by a lot of POC to me its just another example of a deflection and lack of personal accountability.

White people and racists who dont align with left winged social values arent calling themselves racist.

Obama his first day in office made it very clear he was not interested in bipartisanship because "too bad we won". Not exactly a good leader. Also Obama has been an incredibly protected president. If Obama faced a fraction of the personal insults Trump has people would have gone crazy. If Michelle, Sasha, or Malia faced 1/4 the BS the Trump girls some hashtag with the word racism would have been trending on twitter for weeks. Obama was a pretty shitty president and to reverse a lot of his policies is not personal its just trying to fix a mess. IMO Obama will be looked at as one of the worst presidents in modern day history one day.

Hear me out. It is possible to have 2 back to back shitty presidents/leaders. Heck its even possible to have 3 (Bush/O/Trump). I cant think of 1 thing O did during his 8 years that I agreed with. He didnt even take a strong stance on legalizing weed for shitsake.

Yeah I think both parties agree that education needs some reform though. They just differ in their opinions in how to get there.

For me I'd start off with the board of education and teachers unions. You want to see some corruption? Look up some salaries of your local/regional board of ed

not to mention the perks. Summers off, world class healthcare/pension/retirement etc.

Also food for thought
The Myth of Racial Disparities in Public School Funding
"increasing school spending has rarely led to better outcomes"

"Although it is often blamed for the racial achievement gap, unequal school funding is largely a myth. Per-pupil spending in the U.S. is broadly similar across racial and ethnic groups. If any one group enjoys an advantage in funding, it is black students, especially in the Northeastern states. Group differences in school achievement cannot be the result of an unequal commitment of resources to minority students, and simple increases in public school funding are not likely to close the gaps."

Also the article states that inner city schools typically get the most qualified teachers, however turnover can be high as they seek more desirable positions or different careers...

My aunt was an inner city school teacher in Newark NJ making more then a typical public teacher in a more affluent area. She cried daily. She was a science teacher ---> department head 5/6th grade. She took the kids to the beach to look for sea life or whatever (beach from Newark maybe 30-35 minutes away). It was the first time many of the these kids in 5th grade have ever been to the beach...

Too often the case I think family values and personal values need to be pit prioritized and are often to blame for the cycle of poverty. But honest discussion about this cannot happen without being called a racist or someone saying I am benefiting from white privilege etc.
