^ I thought I saw Waddell's name on the scroller at the bottom on NHL network.

I couldn't imagine what it was for.

The top 3 playoff scorers on the Jets right now are Waddell pickups.

Actually NHLtradetracker gives both Byfuglien and Wheeler trades to Rick Dudley as GM, and he drafted Scheifle as well. I know it's splitting hairs, b/c Waddle was the President at the time.

I should not have gone to NHLTradetracker. I looked at the glorious history of MacLean again.

Edit: Damn, Dudley got Andrew Ladd for Ivan Vishnevsky.

didn't know about that site. Interesting.

So, I went and looked up JFJ's tenure. Not nearly as bad as I would have guessed. One that made me chuckle was trading Nathan Perrott for a draft pick that became Leo Komarov. If it weren't for that ill-advised goalie swap with BOS, it holds up well.

It's amazing to see the sheer volume of throwaway trades each GM makes during his tenure. Makes the moment you find a humdinger that much more satisfying.

Nice to see all the top teams still playing. For once no Cinderella team. And no I don't think Vegas is Cinderella the fans yes... The team no. They have been great since game one of the regular season

Other than the Snes last year when was the last time there really was a "Cinderella" team in the final 4?

Last one I can really think of is both LA and NJ in 2012 and before that...the Canadiens in the Halak year? That's actually kinda low considering how much "parity" there's supposed to be in the league thanks to the pointless and stupid salary cap.

Castoff old goalie and a team of castoff ragamuffin third liners isn't a Cinderella team?

This is probably the greatest coaching performance of all time.

Yeah, at the start of the season, I certainly didn't expect Vegas to make the playoffs and all season long, I was waiting for the carriage to turn into a pumpkin. I think either Nashville or Winnipeg should be favored against Vegas in the WCF, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Knights in the SCF.

Ole Donny boy seems to like to make trades and that Hurricanes team is in win-now mode or else they could be heading to Quebec City - I'm thinking they don't need that 2nd overall pick as much as T.J. Brodie to solidify the defense corps.

remember when they crushed the canucks in preseason though ??? lol at the least i knew right away it was gonna be a long season for the canucks

/about Vegas ... its been talked about many times before about how certain gms "outsmarted" themselves by trading assets to protect other players or make Vegas take a certain player. And yah Tallon and Chuck Fletcher deserve rings for their contribution if Vegas wins it all ... but i heard Botchford say the other day that at least Fletcher had a hockey basis for the moves he made (not sure about that but whatever :noidea: )

as for Tallon, Botchford said he made the moves he did out of spite (Im sure Private Drancer probably told him this) for the stats nerds who had the power in Panthers management before he was re-hired ... so he could protect Alex Petrovic ???

I was thinking more like Gardiner and Andersen for Hanifin and the #2.
