I think those are the nicest World Series rings I've ever seen.

Awesome job.

Did not hear if any announcers got any.

Crane Kenny was in then booth and gave JD and Len their rings on air during the game yesterday. He also said there was 1908 total pieces of jewelry ordered. Some of that was pendents or something else other than rings, but pretty much everyone in the organization got some piece of championship bling.

Yep, just saw an article though where non-players do not have the choice to sell the rings.

Cubs want right to buy back WS rings for $1

I think that's totally fair, as long as they paid the taxes for the non-players. But that'd be stupid if they gave out very nice $80-100K rings and then like 1,000 people just pawned or ebay'd them off. That's not the intent. The intent is, "Here is a VERY nice piece of jewelry that you can proudly keep as memorabilia and remember a storied season. If you simply view this as money, then we'd appreciate it back." Which is fair. A bunch of the staff prob. already got other raises/promos after the winning season.

That's like your grandfather saying, "The car is yours, but you can't sell it. It remains within the family." Sure someone could bitch and moan about that, but do you want the car or not? Same with the ring...

If I was a random office finance/accounting guy, I'd totally wear mine at work and to special events. Now that brings in the interesting question if it's stolen... are the Cubs insuring the ring? I sure as hell am not paying insurance for it lol, if the Cubs expect me to give them $80K back in the event it's stolen.

So really depends... if it's valued at $80K I'd prob. put it in a safety deposit box. If it's valued at $1 (truly to ME) then I'm wearing that shit.

I think there are different levels (tiers) of rings. The player ones are the most expensive, the others not as much.

From what I read, the Cubs are taking care of the taxes for non-players. Not sure about insurance. I would think you could tell who the ring was for if it showed up on the market somewhere.

The buy back requirement, I have no issue with that.
