one year we had a bunch guys from Thailand ( lol - software engineers ) on the roster who we would work into games on occasion. They didnt know the rules ... Another year, we couldnt find a pitcher and we ended up with a 60 something year old guy who had zero mobility but he could get the ball over the plate and seemed to know every person at every softball tournie we entered

lol, I have group therapy later on. Not really mad about it, just think of it now and then.

Players not knowing the game had to be funny at times.

we had an Australian futures trader who joined the team. He'd never played the game before, but was a hell of a drinker, and fairly athletic. The first pop fly that goes to him, the cricket reflexes kick in, and he throws off his glove and makes the catch barehanded.

did you guys have ringers like in your broker hockey league

lol. not quite to the same extent. I've finally retired from the broker hockey league. can't keep up with the new crop of Jr players.
a big company like Canaccord had 3 teams, and you had to try out for the top one. Yorkton was a bit serious. they picked up one guy who probably hit homers 4/5 times per game. he was a pull hitter, and we had to stack fielders in left to have a chance. At that part in North Van on Mt Seymour Parkway, he was hitting shots into the infield of the next diamond over. to complete the cultural melting pot, he was an Asian dude (probably korean).

I dont want to "go there" but we stuck them in right field and they played line drives like they were Bruce Lee ... lotsa crazy karate type kicks ... great guys though!

I've never take Spanish, but I got 18/34. It's amazing what you can deduce from a few words and how often word patterns are the same across different languages. My favorite was easily... "Quién es el jefe?"
