Keim...

As soon as the NFL draft ended last Saturday, the Washington Redskinsstarted signing undrafted free agents. On Friday, they announced their full list of 14 UDFAs:

Kevin Bowen, OT, East Central Oklahoma: He’s a big man at 6-foot-9, 330 pounds who started his career at Southwestern College in California. He used to play basketball, which should help with his footwork, but he used his size to dominate in college. He has long arms (34 inches) and big hands (10½ inches), which he will have to use to his advantage. He was a full-time starter in 2015.

Tevin Carter, S, Utah: He appealed three times to the NCAA before finally winning a sixth year of eligibility. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology two years ago and a degree in human development and family studies in December. He had two brothers who played in college as well. At 6-foot-1, 218 pounds he has good size for the position. Carter originally signed with Cal as a highly recruited receiver in 2010. He ended his career with two interceptions in the Las Vegas Bowl and was named MVP.

Reggie Diggs, WR, Richmond: At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds he offers the Redskins size at a position where they could use some. He’s not a burner so he’s not going to sprint past anyone, but he does have excellent leaping ability. Last season, Diggs caught 66 passes for 901 yards and five touchdowns. As a junior, he caught 85 passes for 1,157 yards and seven scores. He was a team captain.

Ejiro Ederaine, LB, Fresno State: He was a two-time second-team All-Mountain West selection in 2013 and ’15. Ederaine has said he models his game after Denver’s Von Miller. Ederaine’s first name is Nigerian for glory be to God. Ederaine finished his career with 21 sacks, good for sixth most in school history. He started the final 36 games of his career.

Joe Gore, T, Clemson: He’s considered an athletic lineman, starting off his college career as a defensive lineman. He played in 15 games last season. He’ll have to transition to playing in a pro-style offense after lining up mostly in two-point stances in college. One nugget: He’d like to open his own restaurant someday.

Dominick Jackson, OL, Alabama: The Redskins called him immediately after the draft ended and one reason he chose them, according to a source, was line coach Bill Callahan. He was a second-team All-SEC selection. Jackson shares the same agent as Redskins tackle Trent Williams. Though Jackson played tackle in college, he might have to switch to guard in the NFL. The 6-foot-5, 313-pound Jackson played two years of junior college ball.

Rob Kelley, RB, Tulane: He carried the ball 65 times for 232 yards and one touchdown this past season. For his career, he finished with 318 carries and 1,270 yards. He also caught 86 passes for 727 yards and six scores and was a kick returner in 2011. He was suspended from the team in 2014. Felony charges of simple robbery and simple battery were dropped. He can play fullback.

Joe Kerridge, FB, Michigan: He was primarily a blocker at Michigan, where he was a four-year letterman. Kerridge started 14 games out of 48 appearances, carrying the ball 18 times for 121 yards and catching 17 passes for 123 yards. He was on the field for the infamous Jadaveon Clowney hit in Michigan’s bowl game vs. South Carolina after the 2013 season. Kerridge earned a taste of social media fame for revealing a text from his mother who asked him, "Are you sure you weren’t supposed to block him?" Kerridge’s man was the corner, so the answer was: no.

Anthony Lanier, DE, Alabama A&M: He played two years of basketball in college, appearing in 25 games, in addition to football. Last season, he recorded 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for a loss. Lanier’s uncle is former Redskin defensive lineman Frank Kearse.

Valdez Showers, WR, Florida: He did a little of everything at Florida, going there as a cornerback before moving to safety and, as a sophomore, to receiver. Last season, he caught eight passes, returned eight kickoffs and made 24 tackles on defense. For his career, he caught 24 passes for 197 yards and two scores.

Michel Cooper, TE, Indiana: He started his career at Arizona before transferring to Indiana. He was considered more of a blocking tight end, though he caught 17 passes for 205 yards this past season. His grandfather, John Michels, is in the College Football Hall of Fame -- he also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He then coached the Minnesota Vikings' offensive line from 1967-93.

Shiro Davis, LB, Texas: At 6-foot-3, 256 pounds he’s likely an outside linebacker after playing defensive end in college. He was a part-time starter in 2014 and ’15 -- starting eight games over 44 appearances. Last season, he recorded 29 tackles with 5.5 for a loss.

Maurice Harris, WR, Cal: He’s cousins with NFL receiver Keenan Allen(whom he also played with in high school). Harris started 14 games at Cal, catching 81 passes for 1,009 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also returned three punts and one kickoff. As a senior he finished with 40 catches for 558 yards and six scores.

Geno Matias-Smith, S, Alabama: He started his Crimson Tide career as a cornerback, before moving to safety where he started 15 games last season. He intercepted one pass and forced one fumble. Matias-Smith started six games in 2014. He was arrested twice for DUIs, the last of which occurred last year.

You have to give slight edges to the two Alabama guys, because of where they played and their experiences in championship level games. Though not much of an edge, being on a big stage shouldn't give them nearly the jitters that other rookie class men would have early on. Gonna especially keep my eyes on these two.
