Patriots have really improved front seven and now also have depth. Have the Ravens improved?
Who's better and why?

Hey buddy, help me out here. Answer the OP. Let's get this jump-started.....

I can't think of anything to improve on very probable, the best oline in the game, so I don't know where you're going here on the Ravens....
BB always seems to get enough protection around Brady for him to be effective, so I don't expect any difference this year....Except for the backup qb...
I think the question in NE is the D, who's gonna replace the big man Wilfork, and who is gonna be as effective as Revis and Browner, and didn't you guys get a new DC in there with a new system ?

Concerning the front seven.
Patriots had a good defense last year and led the playoff teams with the lowest points per game average.
Baltimore was towards the bottom on points per game - even while being the best against the run.
That was inflated by facing only 2 teams - both pass-happy in the playoffs.
New England front seven will be better than last year by adding Brown and Sheard.
Easley, a 1st rounder, is expected to be healthy and be in full health.
Trey Flowers is very powerful against the run and should provide good run stopping on 1st and 2nd downs.
We get all-pro Mayo back in at LB.
I'm expecting much improvement on the front seven. Secondary is another topic.

Well our secondary was a shambles last year with the injuries and not enough depth.....Jimmy Smith is back and Webby, along with Houston p/u Kendrick Lewis , Will Hill is looking great and we picked up a guy you may know for some depth, Kyle Arrington.....Also got another good cb prospect in the draft too...
Jernigan and co will replace Haloti and we are looking pretty good...Ask Bruski , he picked us as best roster in nfl...

I agree that Ravens secondary will be improved - especially in regular season. still a different topic than the front seven. Ravens front 7 were very good against the run last year and were noticeably better with Ngata in.
Ravens defense was rated 4th while Patriots were 9th.
Patriots have improved their front seven greatly.
I question if Ravens haven't regressed.....

My bad, I was working out and checking in between sets, I thought you asked about the oline,"senior blink"...
I think our most prevalent question is replacing Ngata, Jernigan did a great job last year in the 4 games leading into the playoffs while HN was suspended...
Brandon Williams is another guy they are high on so we'll see....the rest is all good....
Later buddy, gotta shower or sleep out on the porch...:D

Your secondary outlook is very optimistic. Your combined top 3 / 1st string CB's have fewer interceptions than our 4th string pickup - Cox - 13

Who's better and why?

Last year's front seven was one of the top units in the league last year. They were Top 3/4 with running stats and 2nd with 49 sacks. Very productive and probably was the reason that we got as far as we did last year with our secondary in such bad condition.

I don't think the Ravens front seven improved over the off season for the short term. They stayed status quo at best but might take a couple steps back this year after loosing Ngata and McPhee. Both were productive players They brought in no free agents but drafted a 3rd rounder DT Carl Davis and 4th rd'er DE Za'Darius Smith. They are getting a couple of IR players back in 2nd yr player DE Brent Urban and 3rd yr DE Moore. A kid from Tampa, Steve Means, is apparently making noise and has the coaches talking.

Ozzie does a great job in keeping the front seven stocked. Every year we seem to loose a key component such as Kruger, Ellerbe, Arthur Jones, and so on but has someone ready to step in. This year will be no different as Brandon Williams and Timmy Jernigan are ready to be the next men up. Even PFF recognizes Williams as one of the Top 5 players on the roster. The LB core though I believe is not as deep. Arthur Brown is there if CJ Mosley or Smith go down and it is questionable if the depth is there after Suggs and Dumerville for pass rushing. Courtney Upshaw rotates with Dumerville and is good against the run with improving pass rushing skills. This year is Upshaw's contract year so we will see if he takes it to the next level.

How has your front seven improve and would you rank (roughly) last year's performance?

I know the Patriots front 7 has been greatly improved. I don't know if they have caught up to the Ravens front 7 yet. Last year good - not great.
Thanks for your input.
