Feliz's outing where he threw 98 in Tampa was a damn tease...Cut bait and let him float off into the great ether.

I think we have forgotten that this team is not about 2015 but 2016 and 2017. We all recognize the trouble in town and that being true, solutions will not be found for this year. Point at hand: need of a closer, healthy starters up to speed, stable outfield, second baseman, imo a hitting coach, unknown Josh Hamilton, bull pen and a #1 catcher. Bannister will not be able to do much about all this now. Seems as if we are 10 ft. deep in troubled waters and dry ground might be found the next year or two.

classic response and could be inserted by any fan describing any team. Never liked the coulda game two years down the road but that's just me. 1972 to 2010 was a whole lotta two year forecasts. Must be the way baseball go

There were many times during that period where the "forecast" realistically was much more than 2 years. In fact our first pennant race come out of the blue thanks to Billy Martin. It wasn't a result of any kind of forecast at all. Many other times we didn't have the kind of farm we needed to expect anything in 4 years much less 2 years. We do have the the farm now to expect something in the near future(2017 or 2018).

You are wrong about DT's response being able to be inserted by any fan on any team. Not realistically anyway. Even most of those teams who are two years away don't have the talent quantity that we have currently.

There are reinforcements on the way and very capable ones at that. I have been following this team since they got here and I have never seen anything close to the offensive talent that we have within a year or so of arriving. We have had several times where we have had one good hitter to look forward to and sometimes even 2, but this situation we have now is much better than ever before.

DT is correct. A lot of the guys that we are worrying about performing will be replaced by guys with much higher ceilings in a year or so. Some less than a year and some a little more. If Chirinos, Corpy, Pegs, Rosales, Field, Smolinski, Blanks and others aren't performing well enough or if you don't think they are getting enough playing time don't fret over it. They are not long for a starting spot on this team anyway. Many are simply placeholders and it really doesn't matter too much how good they are or how bad they are. Others are so young(see bullpen) that they are going to be hit and miss for awhile. Let's just be glad they get the misses out of the way now.

So, in your opinion/thought pattern we are indeed about this season and not next? To me, even if everything went well - players playing to/exceeding expectations and returning from injuries cured - we still are at the very best, and outside shot at becoming a WC team in 2015.

And those early years wasn't really about plans, more of reactions and wishful thinking (see David Clyde and the hiring of Billy Martin as examples). Although current ownership/FO and on-field management have made mistakes, I do feel we're in much better hands today than we were with Brad Corbett, Eddie Childes, Tom Grieve, Doug Radar, etc schools-of-thought.

This is good to hear.

He had a nice spring, and hopefully can get some quality starts.

I guess he will be starting since Det is hurt and the only other call up was Tanner. I hope Oly can build on his success

gotta throw strikes, to get swings. They aren't gonna walk up and start hacking like the Rangers if you're not throwing strikes
