He can't play in the CFL. They came out and said that they would recognize the NFL's suspension and not allow Rice into their league either.

There are some agreements between the CFL/NFL that the CFL doesn't want to jeopardize I imagine.

Yeah have to agree that there is no way someone can make the claim that he was forthcoming with information. From the story he told the team compared to the video is just two very different ideas of what happened that night. Now maybe he did think it went down that way as he was drunk but my guess is he and his lawyer were allowed to watch the tape so either way he knew what happened. He still chose to lie about it putting the league in a bad place say they didn't see the tape and were going off what he said. If he did tell them that she attacked him first and he was acting more in self defense then yes a 2-game suspension makes sense. That is not what happened here though.


Now I do agree OldSchool in the sense that other players have done just as bad if not worse things yet are still in the league. Unfortunately for Ray Rice his was caught on camera which just adds fuel to the fire. Sucks for him for sure and is not fair at all but it is how our world is today.

The best thing about it all is that pressure is being put on the Commish and he could potentially be either fined/suspended or even fired.....Some womens club have asked for his resignation, and law enforcement has confirmed that they sent the tape to the NFL at the beginning of this debacle and he claims he has never seen it nor received it....
He also is on record in Bountygate saying, ignorance is no excuse.....Me thinks duck lips is in a heap of trouble....

I kinda agree with the OP.


Ray Rice did a horrific thing, but the NFL seems to think the solution to their own stupidity is to keep piling on punishments.


That is not going to solve anything.


Instead of getting in front of this and accepting blame, the NFL thinks that all they need to do is keep blasting Rice.


It looks bad after a while.


Ray Rice did a horrific thing. I hope he gets punished.


But, the NFL needs to punish itself for the half-assed fiasco....giving extra punishment to Ray Rice is not the same as accepting some blame for their own actions.

Plus there is the little fact that Rice was never tried, and therefore he could be recharged and tried in court.

In his case, the league passed one sentence and then increased it, not the same as court, but Rice won his grievance that he filed and is eligible to play, and the Ravens had to pay him his money beyond those 4 games of the original suspension...
They all bungled it by not getting the tape, but what penalty did the league get for their mistake, zero...
That's what gets me, players make mistakes and are fined , suspended, but the league pays nothing for theirs..
I'm still waiting to see why Irsay hasn't been suspended for a yr for DUI and drug possession....Go figure...
But for the record, I did not like Rice before any of this happened, he became a real punk the last 2 yrs he was here....
