I see that the Reds have signed Devin Meseraco to a new deal. He is a catcher who I will keep in mind as the fantasy draft approaches. Easy to get stuck with a bad C position, in my experience.

:agree: Very easy, I think...

This thought just struck me: I bet the cheap bastard Wilpons are freaking out that deGrom got Rookie of the Year. I wonder how long they have him under contract...

Have to admit that I really slept on him. After looking at deGrom's numbers, however, he was outstanding in 22 starts.

Made me wonder whether Harvey is expected to make a full recovery. That could potentially make a very powerful one-two punch.

Hey TDs3nOut - Whatta ya think about Profar? Kid's barely 21 years old, can he come back from the surgeries? Taking baby steps now...throwing from 75 feet.

Afraid I don't have any insight, Chef. He was certainly a highly regarded prospect a couple of years ago. I know that some folks thought that he played too many different positions to really get a chance to settle in before getting hurt last year, which seems reasonable to me. I also read that the team is hopeful that he might be ready to play by opening day, but he is expected to be limited during spring training. Seems to me like a guy to keep an eye on early in the season, but as of what I know now (which isn't much), I doubt that I would draft him.

where do they play him, since Odor is going be second base?? the only open spot is left field, can he play the OF, or will they move someone else??

In addition to 2b, last year he played a little OF, as well as both SS and 3b. As always, injuries and ineffectiveness could present opportunities. Might even begin the year in the minors.

I don't think he's beginning the season at all. My plan for him is actually more for next year in hopes that he fully recovers. Odor's got potential, but I think a healthy Profar is the better play at 2nd.

We'll see...I love my crapshoots! ;)

A guy Im eyeing as a sleeper(or backup in leagues Im forced to carry two Cs) is Alex Avila. His average will never be impressive, but he may end up as the opening day first baseman. Which is frightening.

He is certainly capable of getting hot. I have picked him up off waivers a few times, but never with much success.

The Tigers depth chart on espn has Avila listed as the starting C, with V Mart and Miggy the 1 and 2 at 1B.

I know that Jame Shields has been a pretty good pitcher over his career, but I've never been a big fan of his (e.g., I've never drafted him). Kind of curious how switching leagues and pitching in an ultimate pitcher's park might affect him this year, however. I think he might be worth taking somewhere between the middle and the late rounds.

I'm curious about him also. By all rights he should do well in the NL and that park. But man, that guy has pitched a lot of 200 inning seasons...that's the only thing I'm worried about, but I'd draft him, too.

I think he does well this season...after that? :noidea:

Michael Saunders hurt his knee and is expected to be out til July. Tough break for a youngster who clearly has shown flashes. Always nice to find a lefty speedster who hits lefties.

That reminds me ... any thoughts on the chances that former Houston Cougar Michael Bourn regains form this year -- or ever?

So now Cingrani is a bullpen guy. The Reds new Broxton? Maybe someone (TKO) can explain this to me...

Puzzling for sure. Might have something to do with him not being able to get through the 5th inning. They like the Iglesias kid, and maybe they feel the need for the LHP out of the pen.

MLB Network analyst Cliff Floyd had predicted Matt Kemp to have a 30-30 season.

If he is correct, then all other analysts should forever bow down to him as the greatest prognosticator ever.

I highly doubt it, I think the padres are not going to be pleased with return on kemp.

Andre Ethier has a challenger for the oblivious title, in Dan Uggla.

Uggla doesn't believe he's a bench player, and will opt out of his MINOR LEAGUE contract if he doesn't make the Nats.

LOL!!

With a two year average of .171/.291/.326, I'm pretty sure everyone but Mrs. Uggla disagrees with the 35 year old.
