Lahaina, Hawai'i - November 24 - November 26
November 24th - Games and Times:
Purdue vs. Kansas State, 2:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
Missouri vs. Arizona, approx. 5 p.m. (ESPN2)
Pittsburgh vs. Chaminade, 9 p.m. (ESPNU)
BYU vs. San Diego State, approx. 11:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
Semifinals - November 25th:
Purdue/Kansas State(winner) vs. Missouri/Arizona(winner) - 7:30 p.m. (ESPN)
Pittsburgh/Chaminade(winner) vs. BYU/San Diego State(winner) - approx 10:00 p.m. (ESPN)
Championship Game - November 26th: approx 10:00 p.m.
Bracket: http://espn.go.com/pdf/2014/0804/ncb_maui_invitational.pdf
Analysis: Going into the season this looked to be the premier early season tip off, outside the Battle for Atlantis, with 5 teams coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance a year ago. However, Kansas State and Pittsburgh both suffered bad losses on their way to Maui, with Hawai'i taking down Pitt, and Kansas State losing to Long Beach State. Looks like the top half of the bracket is Arizona's to lose, and frankly, I think they breeze into the championship game. The bottom half pits a really intriguing game with BYU taking on San Deigo State. What a contrast of styles as you have the uptempo Cougars facing SDSU's great defense. I think defense will prevail in that match up, and you'll have a Pittsburgh/SDSU semifinal. I think SDSU wins relatively easy and sets up a rematch of last year's sweet 16 match up with Arizona taking on SDSU. Should be a great championship game. I think Arizona's size will be too much for SDSU and Arizona wins by less than 10 in a classic game.
