Love this move. Buy Low on a player that was awesome 2 years ago. I like this move a lot. Now we need another starter.

Padres Asst. GM AJ Hinch was just interviewed before the Padres game and he said it'd be impossible to exaggerate what a true pro Headley is.

I hope he comes out of this funk and his excellent performance over the last couple of months continues.

Great way to start our Yankee Career. What a game. Great job by the pitchers.

Too bad the O's won.

Good things is we are right in the WC race.

1.5 back of Seattle for that 2nd WC spot

He doesn't have to revert to 2012 form to be an upgrade. Headley was a good player in 2013 and 2011. Yankees didn't give up much of anything either.

McCarthy was also a good pickup IMO. His peripherals (good K/BB numbers and a high ground ball rate) suggest he's a lot better than his ERA shows.

At the 100 game mark we are 3 out in the east and .5 game out of the 2nd wildcard spot

I think we are 1 move away from taking over the East. We need a Pitcher. I also wouldn't mind trading for Kemp from the Dodgers. Word is Kemp wants out.

I watch a lot of Dodgers games and you need to realize what Cashman and other GMs do about Kemp; he's never going to return to his glory days. That said, I can totally see the Yankees overspending on him. I don't doubt right now that the Dodgers would be fine with just dumping his salary and maybe a token player to be named.

Who'd have ever thought a couple of years ago that Kemp would be on the block and Ethier still in Chavez?

As long as he's DHing... I guess. But he still wouldn't be worth the money. Kemp was never a good fielder to begin with (despite the Gold Gloves, most metrics have rated him as a well below average defender), but his defense has actually gotten worse. Despite a very respectable 114 OPS+, he's been "worth" -1.5 WAR because of his defense.

DRS: -23 runs
Plus/Minus: -19 runs
UZR: -17.9 runs

That's very bad. Especially when you consider that's through only 88 games.

We got Capuano

I really liked the Capuano signing coming into the 2014 season. I thought he would have been a really good swingman/long reliever for the Red Sox. He started out nicely, but he really struggling over the last 2 months before getting DFA'd.

Burke Badenhop, however, has been pretty darn good. Doesn't strike many guys out, but he doesn't walk many either and he gets a lot of ground balls.

Headley looking like a steal. It looks like he just needed to get away from that ballpark. The best thing about Headley is he is one of the better Defensive players at 3rd. Love this trade.
