Legendary running back LaDainian Tomlinson has run all the way back to his home state, and he's trying to cut ties with his Poway, California home -- this time for $3.495 million.

"While he still visits San Diego for his Touching Lives Foundation, LaDainian and his wife, LaTorsha, have moved back to his home state of Texas," explained listing agent Kofi Natei Nartey of The Agency.
After two seasons with the Jets and nine with the Chargers, Tomlinson retired from the NFL in 2012, though he hasn't exactly slowed down.

The five-time Pro Bowl pick has started a foundation benefiting community organizations and charities across the country committed to ending hunger; founded the LT Academy focused on teaching athletic and life skills; and started co-hosting the NFL Network's "First on the Field" every Sunday during football season.

Tomlinson purchased the 13-acre property at 18755 Heritage Drive in 2004, the same year the home was built. He and his wife picked out all the finishes, including walnut and travertine floors with onyx inlays. According to Nartey, the couple enjoyed every minute of living and entertaining in the home.

Starting with a double-door entry and continuing with a 25-foot-high living room ceiling, everything about the estate is grand. The living space spans nearly 10,000 square feet with five bedrooms, 5.5 baths, a game room and detached guesthouse. Outdoor amenities include a putting green, sport court and solar-heated pool.

"Two really cool features of the house are the resort-like pool and cabana, and the secret home theater hidden behind a bookshelf door," Nartey said. The pool glows at night, showing off a pirate-style rope bridge, while the theater has old cars parked inside, creating the feel of a 1950s drive-in.

The home is currently listed for $5,000 less than what Tomlinson bought it for in 2004. It's been on and off the market since 2011, but Natey, a sports and entertainment real estate specialist, is confident he can get it sold.

Natey holds the listing with Daniel Beer of Windermere Homes.

No doubt they tacked on an extra $500,000 cause LT is the owner. I guess LT thought he'd be rich forever.

Purchased in '04...near the peak of the market...he should break even at worse...but not at that price...I wonder why only $5k over what he paid for it...broker maybe taking advantage of an athlete that probably can handle the loss.

Is it bad my initial thought was "I guess Tomlinson is going broke"? He could simply be selling it because he doesn't want to live there anymore.

Now that Junior Seau and Tony are gone, LT is the king of SD. I know people who've seen him around town and he and his wife are known for being very genuine and friendly.

He was a 3 contract guy...at least 2 and a small one at the end in NY...probably not broke...got a NFL TV......probably trying to get away from those CA taxes, lower his monthly outlay.

House with secret rooms are cool. If someone gave me unlimited money and said "build a house", they'd be secret rooms all over the damn place (and probably a few NDAs signed by the architects...)

For sure and I'd have secret tunnels too. I'd also make it look like a modest 2 story above ground but have 3 or 4 totally kickass stories below ground that nobody would know about (except maybe the Mexicans who build it).

I like the whole idea of secret kickass stories below the ground.
