Iowa @ Indiana postponed

Indiana University Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass has announced that tonight's Big Ten men's basketball game between Iowa and Indiana will be postponed as a result of a piece of metal falling from the ceiling into seats in the lower bowl.

Roughly 6 1/2 hours before game time, a metal facing (roughly eight feet long by 14 inches wide), fell and damaged seats in the lower part of Section F, which is located in the northwest corner of the building.

"Safety is our No.1 priority," noted Glass. Our University engineers have advised us to postpone events in Assembly Hall until it can be determined what caused the facing to fall and ensure the safety of everyone attending an event in the facility."

The rescheduling of the Iowa contest and the status of tomorrow night's women's game with Michigan will be determined as soon as possible.

At first I was mad because I had vcash on it (though not much) but than I realized how horrible it would be if it happened game time. People would most likely be seriously injured or dead, scary thought.

I imagine they'll be inspecting every nut and bolt in that place. Good thing their next two games are away.

I agree, there's no way until they assured every nut and bolt was accounted for and brought 10 engineers in to check every beam, seam, etc. Even then I wouldn't, NOPE.

Didn't start. Not sure when they will but I know they're expected to last for a few years. Part of a $150 million dollar plan to rejuvenate the whole athletic department.

I had 50 vCash on Indiana moneyline, but I was gonna root for Iowa.

They have 72 hours to get with Iowa and reschedule a date they can agree on. Otherwise the Big 10 will re-schedule for them.

They've already declined a Pacers offer to use their facilities.
