I keep hearing he might be on the block. He's owed a bit more than they probably want to spend, however he's locked up for a couple of seasons. A pickup like that will put us right where we need to be for this WS run.

He had a back injury and his numbers have never recovered. Way overpaid. Would block Belt, and possibly Posey form playing first, and thus our catching prospects. Doesn't hit any better than Belt. LHH who would likely not hit well in our park. No speed. Would field worse than Belt.

Would not trade prospects and inflate payroll for this guy. We already have Huff. No thanks.

MLB Rumors: The Cubs Should Trade Bryan LaHair to the Giants : Chicago Cubs

So how about trading him to the Giants for say- RHP Kyle Crick and C Tommy Joseph?

FUCK THAT! Have you guys even bothered to look at his stats past his one hot month?

LaHair since May 16th:

143 ab's - 217 avg - 282 obp - 322 slg - 604 OPS

I hate to be mean, but in no way on Gods green earth is that sack of shit worth BOTH of our highest upside players, let alone one of them. They even started platooning him cause he CANNOT hit lefties to save his life.

Giants have svcked at 1B since JT. Always looking for a short term fix. Develop from within, and save the dough.

However, someone who is not afraid of hitting with RISP might be a refreshing change for this season's version of hackers. Weakest batting average in the league. With our batting average, we should have scored 50-60 more runs than we have. But we cannot hit with runners on, and Noggin continues to be befuddled as to how to help this. Shark's safety squeeze the other night was a brilliant call, and made for too infrequently.

Lahair for Crick and Tojo?!?!? Whatever you are smoking, I want some.

LaHair will NOT solve our RISP problems. This season, he is batting a lofty .148 in 82 AB's with RISP. There is nothing, I repeat, NOTHING about that stat line that would help the Giants in any meaningful way, nor is there anything worth trading more than a couple of "B" prospects for. Why make the Cubs' problem our problem? The 14 homers looks nice, but he plays half his games at the friendly confines. It is his 31 RBI's that gets my attention, as less than stellar for a guy with that many HR's.

Pass. With a vengeance.

One last post. If we wanna go all in on finding a first baseman, why not try and get AGon back to the west coast? He and Lahair are the same age.

His 9 homers are less than Lahair's, but he has driven in almost twice as many runs 58-31.

His defense is solid. He has shown he can hit at a pitcher's park (Petco).

This year he is hitting .411 with RISP

2011 he hit .337 with RISP

2010 he hit .407 with RISP

2009 he hit ..262 with RISP (while driving in 99 runs)

2008 he hit .325 with RISP

The guy is an OBP machine with a career .365 average.

Would the Red Sox pay some salary relief on a guy averaging $19 million a year for the next seven years?

One can only dream.

Would the Red Sox be willing to part with him? They threw a lot of money at AGon and Crawford, and have little to show for their efforts.

You guys shitting me? That latter being absolutely insane. I know that most of our top guys aren't having great years but all these guys have a chance to way out-preform LaHair in their careers by far, and LaHair won't be anymore than a Ryan Garko.

Right?

Why pay a premium for shit players with no talent. Honestly, worst case, we move Posey to 1st for the rest of the year and have Hector catch. I know Posey has infinite more value behind the plate and is an average 1B, but Belt isn't even a bad 1B right now, he's atrocious.

Fuck value for the moment. I want to win this year, and if Posey playing first and Hector catching does that, then so be it. Now if the FO moves Posey to 1B permanently prematurely, then i'll be pissed.

That LaHair deal wasn't my idea. All I did was post a link and a quote from the link once his name was brought up.

Ryan Garko actually made it back to baseball. After being cut by the Rangers in 2010 he went to Korea. Was terrible there then played in the Independent League where he played very well. Actually now plays for the Rays AA team

We miss you Garko! Ok not really but at least I can still remember that trade and your name
