Series Thread: Rangers Host the Astros For Four Games May 15-18

Who won?

We have had a number of guys come up from AAA and do nothing.

And we have had a guy who got 607 plate appearances in AAA, but who never could become a successful MLB hitter.

We have also had a guy who got 39 plate appearances at AAA who came up and helped us to go to and win a World Series. Every guy is different. While we have an injury, I would like to see if Osuna is in that latter category. If he isn't, then we send him back down. All it would probably cost us would be Pillar.

Not quiet over. The Rangers ate 2 outs from losing 4-3.

Bullpen is really bad. CY tried but failed to improve the BP. And when the offense is as bad as this there is no room for error.

Great SP with a below average BP and terrible offense makes for a .500 team. It's likely where we will end up this season.

Yeah, that part comes next year.

If we brought Osuna up it would have to be after CY and Bochy had a meeting. CY would need to make it clear that Osuna needs to play 4 or 5 games a week. I think Bochy is a fan already so that would help. DFAing Pillar would help in that regard.

The offense had one good inning. It still has a long way to go. Two years ago an unfortunate injury to Adolis allowed us to beung up Carter and the difference Carter made, took us to and through the postseason. Now, it is time to see if Osuna can help us in a similar way.

Texas Rangers right-handed pitcher Kumar Rocker threw two “innings” during a live bullpen session before Sunday’s series finale vs. the Houston Astros at Globe Life Field. If Rocker responds well physically, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said, Rocker will be cleared to begin a rehab assignment. It’s unclear exactly how many rehab starts Rocker will need, but, it will be more than one and “he’s going to need to get stretched out again,” according to Bochy.

“All went good there,” Bochy said. “Stuff is good. If he feels good tomorrow, he’ll get set to start a rehab. He used all his pitches, good day for him.”

We chatted about this before but no offense to Martin or Garcia they are just not 8th and 9th inning guys. They have a place in situations during a game. Would feel more comfortable if they were 6th and 7th inning guys.
Your right the Pederson signing is starting to cost us games. You just can't take the cheap way out when it comes to the bullpen.

The conversion to being a relief pitcher and abandoning starting has not been successful so far for Emiliano Teodo. Maybe the Rangers should hire a closer in the offseason and leave the young guys alone until they prove they cannot start.

Emiliano Teodo pitched today for Round Rock. He faced 5 batters, walked 2, threw 2 wild pitches, gave up a HR and saw his AAA ERA rise to 8.18. He did get a couple Ks, but was not able to complete his inning.

The mediocre crap that Young has assembled and calls a bullpen is disgraceful.

There has been a lot of bashing Boche on the board, but CY should catch hell too for that pitiful excuse of a bullpen.
If you look at their career ERAs, it’s crazy how he thought they would be any better this year.
The 2 wins they got this series were blown by the bullpen.
He surely is not stupid enough to think that he can win with these guys.
