Hughes, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets were announced Tuesday as the finalists for the trophy given “to the defence player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position.” The award is voted on by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

I do not think Hughes will win this one (despite injuries and the team he is on) and I would love to see Werenski win it but I think Makar is going to run away with this one.

I think you're right, it's pretty much gotta be Makar.

And it's a shame that Zach won't get any consideration for the Hart, but he was pretty much the entire team.

I don't know, one guy was a vital component in guiding his team to the President's Trophy, the other guy helped his team to 3rd place in the Pacific Division. If I had a vote, it would be Helle, than Kuch, than Drai.

For tons of reasons, I desperately want this to be Monny. Before his best friend got murdered, least year and his UFA deal was a payoff for dedication to getting back. They way he's handled himself in light of Johnny's death is nothing short of inspiring.

one of the LA reporters ROASTED him over the radio today. He really does not like Kopitar lol


when asked if Doughty and Kopitar would find it hard to get over this loss because of their time served the reporter said

Doughty for sure..
Kopitar - he doesnt think he could careless. He said 2 years ago he is going back to Slovenia after his career is done and feels he already has his foot our the door.

yah I heard that too. It was Jonathan Davis from SiriusXMNHL. Painted 2 polar opposite pictures of Doughty and Kopitar. Doughty would be break shit levels of angry over the first round exit and Kopi was meh when can i get a flight out of here lol
