Yet most have his team moving on in favor of the next Riley mini-QB?

Because this one is arguably the best qb prospect since manning

I haven't seen much of him yet, but on first impression he looks like a slightly taller Bryce Young to me.

I'm certainly not putting him past Andrew Luck, let alone the other young QB stars in the current NFL. His passing stats last year are somewhat Darnold-esque, for the sake of a former USC comparison. A lot more passing attempts as well as rushing TDs, but the yards/att and yards/carry are almost spot on.

Think I may go:
1st round WR (3) - I fully expect this to be Tyreke Hill. Would love if Chase fell
2nd round WR (22)
3rd round Gibbs (27)
I think I'd take Hill over Chase. I ended up with Taylor in round 3 (#27) but was before news of him being out weeks 1-4. Ugh.

Honestly not sure what the plan is there. I don’t want a guy like Landry though. I want a young guy with promise who got caught in a numbers crunch somewhere else and can be grabbed off of a practice squad.
Landry no more than a name for the last 2-3 years. I could see taking a chance on that name if he did anything last year but he didn't. Agree with you.

lol

You act like this is new or unexpected.

Guys with the means to do so have returned to school or used other means to try to get themselves into the situation they wanted before, it just didn't happen a lot because most of the time, they needed the money.

I'd bet we'll start seeing more of this. With the NIL money, getting to the NFL seems less "urgent". Now they'll have an "out" if they don't like the situation they're likely to go to.
Totally agree....downside, of course, is risk of injury and/or being picked by a team you don't like the next year.

And, sure, with NIL money risk of injury not as big a risk as it once was.

Better to "encourage" a trade now as needed. All part of the game though.

Not sure he gets credit for Hurts, since he was pretty well formed by Alabama. Baker? Ecchh. Kyler? Seemingly falling a bit short (ba-dum-bum). Rattler is as of yet undetermined and on to the other USC.

He does seem to have a type. Small or borderline small QBs that are light on their feet.
Baker helps make the case for Riley...........played well enough under him to be taken in round 1. All the college coach can do.

As a college coach, yes. As preparing prospects for the NFL? Not as much.

College coach job not to prepare his QB to excel in the NFL. It's to win games. If a player sees he gets his players drafted high that's what they care most about.

One coach in NFL was able to get him to play well (when healthy).

Lincoln Riley is the best offensive mind in the game, that includes the pros. That’s why he will make the move someday. Doesn’t mean he will succeed, but brilliant when engaged on offense.

Again, I'm not discussing how good the coach is, but the NFL hype over the QBs and mentioned school history before someone else mentioned the coach, all in reference to licensing money enabling the prospect to have more options. I added that the portal is an option too.

Are you really still going to defend Baker? :L

Don't see Air-Raid working in the NFL personally.

Easy there. I mean, the O at OSU under Day has been elite. He's even been able to put a few QBs in the pros as 1st rounders (which hadn't happened here since Schlister). Often with a lackluster D have still been either in the playoffs or just out every year under him in a tougher conference (with a win).

Also could see him going to pros one day...but either of them best mind in essence on the planet? Kooky talk.

Hope ya didn't hit your head too hard with an unnecessary slap? Who defended Baker? Said he had a coach in college who helped make him a first round pick....if you care to dispute that feel free (no need to hit yourself though).

He absolutely is, that’s not an exaggeration. Note I said “when engaged”.

It's an opinion and a kooky one. I did note the engaged aspect. was he not engaged when his teams were getting rolled in playoff games?

Our coach has actually won a playoff game and either makes it or is close every season. Has had 3 straight 1st round QBs at a school that hadn't had one since the 70s. where does he rank in best offensive minds on the planet?
