Well the commodes signed Wentz and the Colts signed Ryan so anything is possible but I think he will be on the 9ers next season but the issue is he needs playing time to develop and if the 9ers get a solid offer they should trade him while the value is high draft another rookie and sign a vet in case of injury.
JM 2 cents but hell Jerry won’t listen to me so ……..
Washington didn't sign Wentz, they traded for him.

Might use colored pencils for this guy.
Watching Wentz this is not the same guy I watched for 3 years in college at NDSU or his first year at Philly till he got hurt. He is one of the guys that could now use the NFL Europe if we still had it to go play get his game back in order or maybe flame out completely? Sadly it happens to so many QB’s. The ole NFL is a meat grinder only the very best or the luckiest with health survive.

He hasn't been the same guy the moment Foles won that SB. Apparantly not all that likeable with teammates.

He's history.

The 9ers went through 3 QBs this season and the fact they lucked into getting stuck with Jimmy G this season saved their season so they of all teams are not wanting to go into the season without depth at the position. Purdy hasn't missed a snap but he has been hurt and he couldn't throw in warmups against the Seahawks in their Thursday night matchup until he went into the back to get one of those "special" shots.

Not to mention Lance is clearly more physically gifted than Purdy and when you drafted him you knew he was raw and going to be a bit of a project. So you really have 0 motivation to move on from him because he could possibly develop into a better version of what Purdy is now.

I like Purdy but I fear he's already hitting his head on the ceiling and fans are just getting blinded being in the moment and the fact that it's a great story and not open to the possibility that Purdy just might end up being above average when it's all said and done.

What could the Niners get in a potential Lance trade? A high 1? A mid 1? A low 1? A 2 or worse?

If Houston offers the #34, I think the Niners pass. Having a potential stud insurance policy for Purdy is worth more than a high 2. Especially in the Niners’ “Win Now” status.

If Houston offers the #2, I think the Niners jump at it. I would be shocked if that happens, but at least, imho, we have defined some kind of range.
I would take Stroud at #2 before giving that pick up for Lance. I think Stroud will be a much better QB when all is said and done.

I think he is hitting his ceiling right now also. 8-0, great TD to INT ratio. Strong arm. Good distributor of the ball making sure playmakers can get their touches. The only downfall I see of him, is he looks like a rookie that gets a little jumpy at times. But if that is the worst you are getting out of a rookie in the middle of a 8 game win streak to start his career and now heading to an NFC Championship game, I would take that all day long.

If Purdy can get it done this weekend, I’ll tip my cap to him. He’s played two road games at Seattle and at Las Vegas and with the number of San Fran fans in the stands that wasn’t really a true road game situation. If he can go on the road and be the guy he’s been so far against a top defense, I’ll be convinced the Niners have something. The opposite wouldn’t be true. He could struggle Sunday and long term still be the guy. This is a tough spot for him.

Well the Purdy injury news should pretty much end any Lance trade speculation.

Even under the best case scenario Purdy likey isn't ready to go at the start of the season nor or there guarantees his arm will be the same.

The 9ers will probably revert back to the plan they had with Lance at the start of this season and hope Purdy can be ready at some point if Lance has a sustain period of struggle.

Yeah..that all sounds plausible...but I have a feeling they'll do some aggressive outside the box thinking and see what they might be able get done via trade. I mean anything is possible.
Not to mention they'll likely also need to address replacing some other key players on their roster who could be on the move this offseason. QB is obviously a priority right now...but it's only a part of the bigger team picture.

Nobody in their right mind is giving up the number 2 pick in the draft for Trey Lance.

He is going into year 3 as an unknown.
