No. With an all time great D they might.

They’d need a lot more than better. Cousins can’t get thru a playoff without some prime time games. And he only loses those.
I'll disagree. The Viks can score with anyone, problem is there very close to the bottom D. If their D is just average in 2022. They probably have the 1 seed, and are the SB favorites.

Never said he didn't but facts are they won with Dilfer, and IMO Cousins is better, than Dilfer.

Dilfer is a loser thread is ok by me. Ring or no ring. He’s not winning a ring without that D and that’s the entire point

Cousins could do it but yeah he needs a really good D and probably a different coach.

Things never said thread: “Kirk Cousins put that team on his back and won the Super Bowl”

Fair, but had the statement made have been more "It will be hard to win with Cousins, I wouldn't had disputed the ridiculous statement, and not have brought up Dilfer.
You CAN win without a good team. That doesn’t mean that is the right way to do it.

You CAN win with a below average QB. That doesn’t mean that is the way you should do it. Almost every single SB champion had a QB who was a stud.

McMahon and Dilfer are REALLY the only exceptions to that rule, and both had ALL-TIME defenses (arguably the 2 greatest defenses in the history of the game).

I think Cousins post game excuse for that last throw should tell people something. Earlier in the year, we remember Cousins throwing to a double covered Jefferson and JJ making that amazing catch vs. the Bills. In this one, he said he "didn't feel good about throwing it up to Justin". His words. Not saying Kirk played an awful game and the defense being unable to stop a nosebleed isn't the biggest story here as it was obvious. But Kirk, in the most crucial moment, went back to "deer in the headlights Kirk" because he was afraid so he checked it down into tight coverage. Once he failed to pull the trigger to Jefferson, the game was over. That is basically the difference between winning and losing more often than not, imo. Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Lawrence, Hurts, Herbert and hell even Dak likely let it rip to their best player 99 times out of 100 in that situation. Despite Jefferson not having a great finish to the season and being bottled up most of this game, I'm giving him a chance come hell or high water with the season on the line. That and that alone is why people don't like Cousins and never will.

I agree on McMahon and Dilfer and you can probably add in Brad Johnson with the Bucs in 02.

Maybe Eli and Plunkett as well (Namath?). But those names are starting to get into more debatable inclusions. Heck maybe even Payton with the Broncos and Brady with the Bucs, but no matter their actual performance, their leadership qualities keep them off this list, imho.

Bottom line, you either have an elite QB, or you are looking for an elite QB. If you don’t have the answer, you don’t have the answer.

Yeah, the list could go on and on but there are really only a few all-time great defenses since the days of the 70's Steelers. The rest of them can be called very good. I can't include Eli because in fairness, he played really well in those playoff runs, as did Flacco in his.

Cousins did a Cousins thing, however, why would the TE run a 3 yard out? Why would the coach call a play with a 3 yard out? The defense was not good.

You got exactly what you would expect from Cousins, however the rest of the team needed to step up and they did not. Still a bonehead throw, however.

Stafford, Foles, Eli twice, Flacco and Peyton was a shell when the Broncos won in 2015. So that's 6 out of the last 15 SB winners. A great QB is optimal, but it can be done without one... and ftr Cousins is not below average.

This is the ESPN Rams board all over again when talking about Marc Bulger.

That said, I dont think the Vikings are set to implode like the STL Rams. I also don't think Cousins will ever win anything. I'd probably rank him as the best bridge QB in the league...but whoever has him better be thinking about replacing him.

It’s not rocket science but these coaches are fun. If you don’t have an elite QB, make sure you load up on D and good RBs to run the dam ball. Look at San Fran the last how many years. Look at Dallas this year with no Dak. TOP is real

Those were good days. Ahaha

If we only had a great Defense to go with Steven Jackson. What a hoss on such bad teams

It's not all bad news for Vikings fans. The playoffs may be over, but the Kirk Cousins contract extension season has only just begun. :heh:

Not sure if the Vikings D was all that bad or the Giants O was all that good. They presented one helluva efficient game plan last night and D Jones played like a 1st team pro bowler. Very impressive performance all around.
