WTF are the Bears doing? Sell, sell, buy? And an overpay too. I'd be furious if the Vikings traded a 2nd for Claypool.
Yeah Claypool has underperformed. Maybe he finds his way in Chicago with a fresh start. It just goes to show a young player with potential that is underperforming is still quite valuable. WR's are just crazy valuable these days.

He has underperformed but Matt Canada might be a factor.

HUGE

Bears needed to do something after shipping Smith.
Not the best trade off but the Chicago fans needed something
Bears organization sucks and remains the biggest problem for Chicago

Vikings and Lions are pretty chummy. Vikings gave the Lions Jameson Williams in the draft and the Lions just gave the Vikings TJ Hockenson.

TJ Hockenson could be in the league for another 8+ years unless he is physically broken in some way. Maybe the best all around TE prospect coming out of college in the past decade or so. Pitts the better receiver prospect but...man...no idea how you trade these type of players like Williams and Hockenson to division rivals
Vikings got a top TE for years to come.

Not bad at all.

Looks like a steal for the Steelers.

I'd expect a team like GB to have been interested in Claypool, but the price was apparently pretty high.

GB will have a lot of years post AR to wonder why they didn't get him weapons while they still had him.

Pittsburgh is smart...gain a second and clears the path for Pickens to become the man.
ZERO catches is not acceptable for his talent.
plus they still have Calvin Austin III to work into the mix eventually

I've always thought that the in-division ban trading players and draft picks was stupid. Value is value whether it comes from the AFCN or the NFCN. And that is ESPECIALLY true when it comes to draft where no one really knows what they are getting. This Hock trade is a little different but if this was the best offer the Lions could get then they should take it. The Lions being good in the future has next to nothing to do with how good the VIkes will or wont be 3 or 4 years down the road. You can only try to improve your team. Not worry about anyone else.

At first blush I thought this was a little too much to trade for him. But that was when it was reported he was a UFA at the end of this year (that is wrong....he has his 5th year tag). A year and a half for him still seems a little much but not that bad. I bet that 2nd 4th rounder that is conditional coming back to the Vikings is conditional on a contract extension or franchise tag.

Hockenson is a 1st round bust. He is a solid TE. Nothing more, nothing less. He was just used a lot because the Lions didnt have anywhere else to try and throw the ball. That isnt what any of us thought he would be years ago in the draft. Honestly him and Tyler Conklin who the Vikes let walk in FA this offseason is pretty damn close to each other.

Good deal for PIT. Chicago was desperate. It could work out for both teams but right now PIT wins the trade
A definite win for the Steelers. In addition to overpaying, the Bears will have to resign Claypool in a few months and he'll have all the leverage.

With WR Brandin Cooks not at practice, it looks like he could be the next guy on the move.

I wish I cared enough to put some of these opinions away for a rainy day but I might be able to credit this to you down the road.

I'm reminded...Opinions vary from time to time

The free agent wr class is empty Next yr And their receiving core is a joke. They filled a need. They have 120+ mil in cap space. it crosses off 1 of their 12+ needs and gives fields a weapon to see if he is the future at the position

Yeah that's how I see from their side. Right now it looks like they overpaid but I could see him playing better in Chicago. Fields needed weapons plain and simple. Now they can fork up money for the OL this offseason, they better.
