We've entered the stretch where that roof is paying for itself; high temps have arrived well before Crawler is out of school for summer break. The Rangers return home from a 3-2 road trip to face the Royals for 3 at the start of a 9 game homestand. They come in at 11-16 and in 4th place; they are 0.5 game from 3rd and 1 game out of 5th. They should easily take 2 of 3 from KC, but easier said than done.

On the mound at the 7's will be Perez, TBD, and Hearn. Perez looks to continue his run as the ace of the staff, and Hearn looks to remain a member of it.

Hopefully some home cooking can light a fire under the offense, who averaged less than 3 runs a game on the road trip.

I think Corey Seager is going to take off during this home stand.

It blows my mind that the best FA signing so far is Martin Perez, and it's not even close. And that's not a knock against Perez.

Yeah that is crazy to think about. We still have another 135 games though. I’m trying to be optimistic that guys like Gray, Semien and Seager will start to take off and at least finish the season better than slightly above replacement level.

Would hope for a lot more than that

Excellent observation. At some point "heating up" can not be used as an excuse for not living up to expectations. Too many on this club are falling into this catagory, "oh he will start heating up soon". Well what is soon?

The hitting is very bad across the board. We have had guys on hot streaks at times, but overall no one is doing well except two limited time players, Heim and White. No one else has an OPS above .664. We are 26th in MLB in both average and OBP. We are 27th in MLB in both slugging and OPS.

We have been led to believe that the new hitting coaches are great. If that is the case then Woodwward must be the problem. If Woodward is the problem then he needs to go now. Not in 2 months; not at the end of the season, but now.

To me there is only one source to listen to in that regard: the statistics. So I have definitely not been led to believe they are great to this point.

I meant they are said to have had a successful track record elsewhere. They may need to be let go at some point as well. I would like to see how they operate without Woodward here.

there's not much justification for dumping Woody at this moment. I understand the dissatisfaction with him from a fan's standpoint, but as it stands he's not going anywhere.

I think the front office and ownership was not expecting the team to finish where they are on pace to finish. They made enough changes this past offseason to expect more. Eventually, they are going to get tired of how poorly this team is playing.

The offense was never going to be great or even good this year, but they should not be in the bottom 5 or even close to that.

At some point someone will be held responsible.

anyone else remember all those in game reports from Emily Jones saying odor will turn it around soon? Only a matter of time before we get those about semien. He’s struggled way too long.

I don't disagree. I just think we're not at that point. Halfway through May is still considered early enough in a season that the coaches won't be held accountable. Also too early to go by "on pace to" judgements.

If the team finishes bottom 5 in offense, then I would assume and expect coaching changes to be made.

Hard to forget Odor when he's brought up in every thread.

Also, there's no bigger mistake to make than putting any substance behind what Woody, Emily, or anyone associated with Rangers media says. They are paid to put positive spins on things, just as any company does when promoting their product. It's called marketing, and it's best to just ignore it.

I am not ready to pull the plug on Garver Seager or Semien. We don’t even have Jung yet.
I would even go to the break before anyone is being released.
I get the platoons and we seem to be successful inch hitters but we do need guys to work through stuff to get some sort of rhythm

There is no plug on those last two. They're ours for a long, long time.
So the point is we have a LF CF 3B DH and maybe a 1B that will or might need to be replaced
Our offensive lineup today is not the one we should be judging the whole offense on

It is a given they are a deficient. One reason Willie looks to be discarded. He won’t be the last

We all assumed Garcia would be the guy inCF/RF after his performance last year. That has changed for me. One year is a tiny sample to assume any thing. He, Lowe, Solak, Ibanez, White, Calhoun,Miller are either gone or being considered gone. In my thinking we have a C,2B and SS that is poured in concrete. That is it. Not much has been done so much is yet to be done. At this time,2023 is not the year we contend.
