The show is an adaptation of this book. I haven't read the book, but this thing says that the author wrote the book after conducting almost 300 interviews.

Other tidbits the show has taken liberties with. Riley did come out of the booth but not like the show portrays. He was an announcer 2 years before Magic's rookie year and was an assistant at the start of that season. It was McKinney's system but Westhead is near as incompetent and clueless as being portrayed. Best I can remember from reading, he ran the system fine once McKinney went out. But when he was actually made coach full time later on, he tried to implement more of his own type of offense (more isolation stuff). Magic hated it and played a large role in forcing him out.

If you take the most homeristic fan of all time and make him that teams announcer, that was Johnny Most.

He was basically the polar opposite of Chick Hearn, which in his own way, made him just as great as Chick.

If you take the most homeristic fan of all time and make him that teams announcer, that was Johnny Most.

Yep. That was Johnny Most. The other team was always thugs, and the refs were always against the Celtics. He and Tommy Heinsohn are why I like to give Celtics fans grief about blaming the refs.
