Have you seen it anytime recently? I think it's actually better than it was received initially, and a nice change of pace looking at Tony's personal PTSD struggles. The Mandarin stuff still sucks, but I like the rest of it a lot more than I did when it came out.

For me, Thor 2 is the only real stinker in the MCU. Some others are a bit dull and only worth 1 watch, but The Dark World sucks.
I haven't seen it recently.

Its hard to have major plot arcs built around characters self-destructing imo. He gave out his home address and said 'come and get me' and they did and he should've died. He then destroys the Iron Man suits to be more human which is a bizarre turn considering where he ends up at the MCU with basically Superior Iron Man tech which is the most cynical form of Tony.

The idea of Tony being caught off guard in general is weird. His main plot arc in the MCU is that its better to prevent than to react. His comment about the Avengers being too late to do anything about it pretty much cements that. A character bent on prevention who is also completely self destructive doesnt really create a cohesive narrative.

A big part of Iron Man 1 was watching Tony dig himself out of his self destructive ways and watch him achieve things through science and hard work. A big part of Avengers Endgame was Tony at the end. If you didn't watch Iron Man 3, the only thing you'd be trying to figure out is who that kid was at the funeral.

But mostly the Mandarin stuff sucks.

...who previously had a smaller role in the MCU as Minn-Erva / Doctor Minerva in Captain Marvel...

And as an android in Humans but she wasn't really your basic pleasure model... A good show.

I did see Iron Man 3 but it was pretty forgettable

The early reviews for the Eternals are bad, but so were the early reviews for Dune.

Saw Eternals earlier tonight...thoughts below.

This film has the unenviable task of introducing us to a dozen new characters who have never been referenced before in the MCU. Where a similar film in the MCU, Guardians Of The Galaxy, succeeded in quickly giving us a feel for each of the characters and keeping the story moving forward with plenty of fun moments, Eternals struggles to get the ball moving, which often makes this a boring, if not tedious entry in the series.

We see the heroes briefly together in the distant past, before having them all split up again in present-day. As the threat from the Deviants looms, they decide to get the band back together...which they don't finish doing until 90 minutes have passed. By the time everyone is assembled, I am already checked out as an audience member.

The predictable heel turn from one of the Eternals is telegraphed, but one of the other team members opts to sit out the final fight entirely. Was the actor unable to make the scheduling conflict work for that shoot, were the writers too lazy to find something for him to do, or a 3rd option altogether? In the final battle, we have a mess of villains that we don't really care all that much about, which makes the heroes' victory feel hollow.

Some of the visual effects in this film are good...others such as the Deviants feel out of place in this universe. Additionally, a character who appears in the mid-credits scene looks so laughably bad that I can't imagine he doesn't get a major facelift if he appears in a future MCU film.

I don't really have a problem with any of the acting in this one; they just have terrible material to work with. No Way Home should deliver a crowdpleasing end to the MCU's 2021, which is sorely needed as a palette cleanser after this bloated snooze-fest.

5/10

Agreed. I just quite simply did not give a damn about anything watching this movie.

And teasing more in the credits was worthless to me. I don’t want more.

I was hoping the credits would at least tease Spidey. But nope.

I have just heard that it isn't good...like the Rotten Tomatoes score has it as Rotten.

but the audience seems to like it alright

It honestly sounds like a movie that made the usual mistakes that DC makes with most of their movies. Like a slightly better Justice League.

While Justice League is probably a worse movie, it was also more "fun" to watch.
