JAKE SCOTT

A 5-time Pro Bowler, he is best known for his MVP performance in Super Bowl VII, where he made 2 interceptions as the Dolphins defeated the Washington Redskins 14-7—completing a 14-0 mark that to this day stands as the only perfect season in NFL history. Scott and the Dolphins would go 12-2 the next year as they defeated the Minnesota Vikings for a 2nd straight championship

RIP even though i hated your team :suds:

Pretty soon I won't have to watch any of those annoying guys drinking their champagne every year...
I always got a hoot out of that.

They beat my squad in the Super Bowl. If not for Kenny Stabler and the Sea of Hands catch by Clarence Davis. That Dolphins team would've won 3 Super Bowls in a row.

@Breed didn't say that The RAIDERS went on to the SB. He said they ended the Phins consecutive run of going to the SB. They had gone to VI, VII, and VIII.

Ah the old AFC what football we had, some of the most memorable games and rivalries. The very same could have been said for any of those top AFC teams, if it were not for the other 4 great teams our team could have won 4 or 5 Super Bowls.

Thanks Jake for the gift of great football rivalries and competition

My bad. Looking at my post one could imply that I was talking about an AFCCG that the Dolphins lost to the Raiders. It was an AFC Divisional playoff game though.

Good looking out @pachyderm for clearing that up.

Interesting side note that the NFL playoffs were on a rotational system then till 1975. Which is why the 11-3 Steelers hosted the 14-0 Dolphins in the 1972 AFCGC.

Actually, he said the Dolphins would have won 3 SB’s in a row….no biggie as he responded to above…..

Heh. Winning 3 means they would've had to beat your squad in an epic AFCCG rematch eh. That would've been a hellified game for sure.

It was tough enough beating the Raiders & Oilers back then to advance and then take on great Cowboy teams….unfortunately for the Dolphins, that team was pretty much done after that….nothing better than 70’s football….

Yeah, that was my golden age no doubt. I became a fan in 1972. There were a lotta characters and a lotta natural, not manufactured flair back then. Teams truly didn't like one another back then and it was easy to form attachments to players not just teams.

Scott is the reason there has been zero shutouts in Superbowl History.

If by Scott you mean Garo Yepremian I'd agree.
someone had to carry the ball to the endzone!

The Skins offense wasnt gonna score that day.
