I agree on Bialik. At first, I thought it was something I found unusual just b/c it was new, but that I'd eventually get used to it once the novelty wore off--like hearing a woman call a football game. Nope. That didn't happen with Bialik's Jeopardy.

I thought I'd get used to her too. That's not happening yet.. in fact she's increasingly distracting, maybe because my dislike is causing me to pay too much attention to her. Perhaps once this guy loses and it gets back to a more normal game from night to night.

She repeats nearly every correct answer with "corrected" pronunciations if they were a bit off, or expanding on them at times. Last night an answer about a president was FDR.. and she said "Yes! Franklin Delano Roosevelt!". I was thinking.. "just shut up!".

She was much better last night.. like better than I ever recall. Also, for a change, she didn't look as if she'd just rolled out of bed and tossed on whatever random clothes were laying around on the floor and come to work. Iow, much more professional in both appearnce and manner.

I hardly get a chance to watch but since I took the week off I got a chance. Looks like she is trying too hard. Like a football player turned into a booth guy and has no natural ability to ad lib.

This automatically put an image of Emmitt Smith in my head; I don’t really remember too much of his broadcasting career but I recall it being unremarkable.

Matt Amodio finally lost tonight.

He was on a 38 game winning streak....and has won $1.5 Mil

Yeah, that was an odd game. He was in 3rd when they headed to final jeopardy. I think there had only been 1 or 2 times prior when he wasn't already too far ahead to be caught in final jeopardy.

But he didn't find any double jeopardys and got several questions wrong.. I think he started guessing when he found himself behind. The other 2 struck me as good, but not great, contestants.

As my wife and I were watching it last night she said he was playing and acting like he was "bored" and "seemed ready to go home".
I kind of agreed.

He wasn't in the usual "zone" he'd been in for the last few weeks....imho.

I read that they tape like 5 episodes in a day and work 3 days straight, so he was obviously in the zone for those periods of time.

Apparently they just got back from a break and he had fallen out of his groove, though I don't know how that happens when you're a master of trivia.

Yep.
All things considered, the guy had a helluva run....and he'll obviously be back for their next Tournament of Champions.

Glad Amodio is off, guys like that kill the show, IMO. It's supposed to be a competition, there's hardly any drama when you can't be caught in final jeopardy.

And i LOVE Blossom as host, I don't know what's wrong with the rest of you guys

It was like he had Google-brain. Took a few seconds to process the "answer" and then he had the correct response.

It does both..it creates more interest for the curiosity of it all...and ruins it to a degree because repeat winners are seen as unbeatable....but they aren't.

Also..I have no problem with Mayim Bialik...and think she's doing a really good job of hosting.
No one will ever be able to completely fill those shoes of Alex Trebek.

The champ gets the first question and Matt always started with the $1000 questions to pile up the cash early before the others got untracked. So they started always putting the double jeopardy in a $1000 question so he'd hit it early without too much money to bet to expand his lead.

I'd been telling my wife that the way to get rid of him if they wanted to, was to make the questions easier and hope the others would beat him to the buzzer. I think that's mostly what happened last night, though he got many more wrong that he usually does. It just wasn't his day.

Word. It's why I thought it was genius that they didn't go straight to hiring a replacement. Have some "rebound time" for the fans.

There were a few guest hosts that I thought were just awful, but most of them did a good job in their own way, even Rodgers. The show is supposed to be about the contestants, not the hosts, so it's a difficult task to keep things moving without becoming the center of attention.

Nope.. even his little flaws, like occasionally "tsk-tsk'ing" an incorrect answer that he acted as if he knew and they should have known, became part of his charm.

He was also genuinely humble and very good with witty pun humor too.
