Big 12 presidents at a meeting Friday will "rubber stamp" invitations to join the conference to BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF, sources told CBS Sports on Wednesday. While the the meeting has been planned for some time, the exact actions to be taken at it had not previously been clear.
This would be some pretty severe geographic spread.

Never on Sundays: BYU won't compete on the Sabbath Day, regardless of the consequences

Okay this article's from 2015. Wonder if things have changed? CBB is played on Sunday's.

I’m not really following the situation, but maybe that’s the reason Boise State is not invited? Or is it some other reason? I would think they would be priority #1.

POWER FIVE STATUS?? Probably not. The TV contracts determine status far more than any random 10-2 ranked seasons.
There is no way to spin that when everyone else is getting at least 35mm and the Big 12 gets 10mm. The SEC might end up with 60-70mm.

GROUP of FIVE STATUS?? Probably not either. It would be a bad look to demote them from the conversation. They might agree to reduced bowl slotting of the New Years Six. And voters will not take them as serious either.

It will be like the BIG EAST in the old BCS alliance days.
There were 6 leagues, but everyone understood there were really only 5 leagues.

They were always relegated to the worst New Years Bowl matchups and never taken seriously by the BCS polls.

They don’t have the national following that BYU does

Think they'll do two divisions or just keep it division-less? If they do divisions it should go:
EAST:
West Virginia
Cincinnati
Central Florida
Iowa State
Baylor
Houston

WEST:
BYU
Texas Tech
Oklahoma State
Kansas
Kansas State
TCU

Although that would seem fairly competitively-lopsided in favor of the East. They could swap KU/KSU for Houston/Baylor to help a little I suppose.

The Big 12 is descending into a non P5 conference fast. They lost the majority of their mojo, and are bringing in nobodies, for the most part, to replace them. Ain't going to work.

Long term, if they are smart, the ACC will take in Cincy. Geographically, WVU could go Big Ten or ACC. No one wants the rest, realistically. I mean if they are all that there is left to choose from, a few may get chosen, but none would be cherished picks, outside of Cincy and maybe UCF?

I think Kansas would be taken, just because they at least have some value as a basketball school. If they joined the B1G, they’d just be the easy win for every other team in the conference in football.

BB adds very little. Research dollars are all the B1G cares for, is my guess, I mean, they are talking HUNDREDS of millions of dollars vs 10s of millions with sports.

That is true. lol Pac-12 was smart enough to take in Utah instead of BYU.

PAC wants nothing to do with religious schools. Given the hypocrisy at programs like Baylor, can't say I blame them.

Nothing compares to football money, no doubt. But men’s basketball takes in decent money I believe. I don’t know what else Kansas offers offhand.
As for your earlier post, I think that WVU goes to the ACC only if Notre Dame joins for football. Otherwise, they’ll either stick with where they are or possibly join the B1G.
