Everyone but three players was making over half their shots. Was there any D outside of the end?

I thought maybe this game would go into the Free Throws thread.

What if, instead of Rudy making the game sealing block in game 1 against the Clippers, he had made a game sealing steal?

Nah. I want to win by five. I’d take it, but just win. Now, if Stockton came out of ret and stole the ball, sure.

I want the Bucks to win. Solely for the stupid headlines and fans who would put Chris Paul above Stockton due to one ring. I’m rooting for you to pass Mark Jackson, not John Stockton.

Why is it ok for Stockton to steal the ball, but not Rudy?

What if they put Giannis Antetokounmpo above Malone?

Both Antetokounmpo and Malone even faced FT crowd countdowns, with Antetokounmpo seemingly making his FTs.

Budenholzer above Sloan?

What does this mean? Game 1 against the Clippers was a 3 point win.

So if Rudy stole the ball instead of blocked it, it would still be a 3 point win.

If he stole the ball, then assisted to someone, then it would be a 5, 6, or 7 point win (4 point play).

They'll then put Antetokounmpo above Stockton. It's not like positions matter when comparing players who have a ring, and those that don't.

It's why Barkley and Ewing get compared to Michael Jordan.

Why is it ok for Stockton to steal the ball, but not Rudy?

Because 1) He’s coming out of retirement and old as rocks. 2) My favorite player. 3) He’s the all-time leader. 4) I’m not into steals as much as you are so they have to have some other significance for me to care.

Antetokounmpo was 4/10 including two missed in the last two minutes. I know, any one game can be bad, but Pippen recites the mailmen don’t deliver on Sundays joke over and over.

No one says Stockton or Malone is the best ever and no one will say Paul or Antetokounmpo is the best ever. But they will use it as an exclusive club into the world of comparisons and for non-MJs, etc. positions are compared often. I don’t consider Antetokounmpo as a PF anyway. Why? Because I honestly don’t know what position he is. SF, SG, or PG?

Plus, I’m better with those early in their career being lauded because I can still say it is too early and have some statistical quantity issues. But the end of his career (1-4 years) Paul winning a ring? Yeah, the in-the-moment knee jerk life accomplishment awards come from decency bias.

@MHSL82, Stockton is your favorite player, but you're not into steals as much as me.

I wonder if there's a "28LSHM" that says Stockton is his favorite player, but he's not into assists as much as me.

I wonder if there's a "L82MHS" where Malone is his favorite player, and he says Malone is the all-time leader in a few things.

Then maybe a "MS8HL2" that says Malone and Stockton are equally his favorites.

Yes but for the Finals, he is shooting .591, which I think is ok, compared to his normal.

On Sunday Finals games, he is shooting 13/17, .765. So Antetokounmpo does deliver on Sundays!

The 4/10 game was a Saturday game, so Pippen doesn't care about that.

Thanks, I guess that is why you would prefer Antetokounmpo to get a ring over Paul.

Also, I hope by "statistical quality issues", you mean "statistical quality awesomeness".

Homer Simpson does.

Gary Payton does. Payton says Stockton was the hardest to guard, ever.

I have thought about this again and I probably could change my mind later. I probably have a different answer than you do. But I like when Rudy blocks and when Stockton steals. You go to the glass to lay it up and get blocked by somebody you know who is defensive, he did what his reputation said.

Gobert steals from the free-throw line, good play, but that’s a bit of a surprise to the person with the ball. Surprises are great, but going at Gobert is more of a challenge and Gobert stepped up. A three pointer made by Gobert would be special, but not reproducible beyond regular likelihood’s of being lucky. Stockton steals, that’s what he does and the ball handler knew that and was bested. Exception for the way Holiday stole it this time since it was like a blindside steal.

Not worthy of comparison, but even if it were, I‘m not too into coaching. Maybe years down the line. A win against Phoenix is not the same as going against MJ and YES, I know we had twenty other years to beat non-MJs, but ehh. I’m not concerned about being consistent. I put Malone over Duncan whereas championships would mean more to me if I were a non-Jazz fan. I am perfectly fine being biased; I’m not running for most objective or right. It’s my opinion and that’s it.
