You know what I hate? Giving QBs 50/50 snaps as competition in practice.

Have some GD balls and name someone the starter and have him play his way out of the job or into it. The 50/50 system divides the team - divides the players - dominates the media and doesn't serve to make either contesting QB any better or more familiar with the receivers. Starting QBs are like a marriage - you have to commit to your starter.

I agree. Pisses me off that these coaches do the same thing year after year. What a waste of time.
Fangio knows who he prefers . Make the other guy beat him out by flashing with the reps he gets.

Thought of something since Mingo started this thread. Seems weird doing this if your fighting for your job. Makes me wonder if Fangio's seat is really that hot. Thoughts (AR changes everything but, right now he's not here and might never be)

PS Best people ever reside here high five to you

I’m fine with it in OTA’s. That’s what OTA’s are for. Come summer camp though. Different story.

Hating is unhealthy.

;)
Did you see how dead this place was - and we actually had Broncos out in the field at Dove Valley? I am allowed some hyperbole in waking the dead.

It doesn't matter nearly has much in OTAs, but naming a starter is someone's job and they ought to man up to it as soon as possible.

From PFT:
Drew Lock was the Broncos’ starting quarterback last year and has a shot at staying in the job for 2021.

He’ll have to beat out Teddy Bridgewater to do so, and may have taken a step toward that on Tuesday. Per Ryan O’Halloran of the Denver Post, Lock did not throw an interception and finished the team drills period with three red-zone touchdowns.

After the session, Lock said the studying and work in the offseason have made him more confident.

“There’s just a lot that went into this whole offseason that I think after the first couple weeks, we’re going to start seeing grow, and grow, and grow — including my confidence,” Lock said during his press conference. “My confidence is high right now, but that’s just because we’re in practice. I’m just excited about where this is going. I see a lot of things that we’re building on, so to say, we get to focus on some minor details now where maybe last year [we were] focusing on some bigger-picture things. I think that will help us be 10-times better in the long run.”

Lock added that being in the same offense for a second year in a row under coordinator Pat Shurmur has also aided his confidence.

Lock has shown flashes of being a franchise quarterback — like his three-touchdown, 309-yard performance against the Texans in his second career start, or his four-touchdown, 280-yard performance against the Panthers in 2020. But until he displays that ability consistently, questions will likely remain about his standing with the Broncos.

Sounds like Lock is winning the battle right now! Long ways to go though.

All Lock needs to do is play within himself - by that I mean - lose the thought that victory depends on his heroics. Victory depends on his execution of the playbook.

Lock needs to eliminate all the "cataphoric " mistakes like red zone turnovers that the team has a hard time recovering from.

It doesn't take a nuclear physicist to figure out that at the end of preseason - the situation will be the same - Lock can play better than Bridgewater and he can play worse - Bridgewater will be the more stable game manager. Who do you go with?

I would start Lock and let him play himself into the job or out of the job.

Hey Mingo, when you have a couple of minutes, give Bill Belichick a call and tell him how everyone really feels.

We've been going through this for the last two years in Foxboro. It's like they're hoping someone will have a heart attack or a stroke on the practice field and they won't have to pony up. (pun not intended)

This is how we got the Trevor Siemain era. Sanchez played himself out of a job and Lynch could not play himself into a job. Trevor just sat back being Trevor err Teddy

If Mac tosses his cookies, then there's Cam. If BB starts Cam, the Patriots are doomed to finish no better than 2020. Like the Broncos fans, we want to see the team move forward. Like you guys, no one is listening.

Catch 22 coaching. Don't change anything. If you do and it shows improvement, then your original choice was wrong. That would mean that you are not the smartest coach on earth qnd other decisions could also be wrong. Yikes!!!!!

I agree, and my rationale is that Teddy knows what it takes to be a backup and prepare to be ready to start at a moments notice. I’m not as confident that Lock has that same ability. And from all accounts, Teddy would be good in helping Lock succeed.
