Let’s not forget:

-Danny Green, a key role player and shooter was out
-Joel Embiid was playing on 1 leg
-Ben Simmons lost his mind and forgot how to play basketball

I get the reactions here, but it would be a major mistake to make huge changes. Trading Simmons is fine if they get an all star caliber player back, but blowing this up would be the exact same mistake the Rockets made when they traded Chris Paul.

The 6ers really aren’t that far off.

Lost his mind, correct on that. But he never knew how to play basketball. Look at his past years playoff performances. He doesn't know how to shoot. He doesn't know how to post. He doesn't know anything about the PG position. Never worked on his game in 5 years. But he can dunk his ass off though. He has 0 basketball IQ. They can't no longer play 4 on 5 offensively.

Agreed on needing a nice return

First take : This sucks.
Hawt take : Trade Simmonds and let him walk to the airport instead of having all of Philadelphia offering to drive him.
Snarky take : I'm rooting for the Hawks now and I hope they get every single call against the Bucks and Giannis doesn't.
Insane take : Trade Simmons for Fultz
Irrational take : If only Danny Green hadn't of gotten hurt
Realistic take : Turnovers killed us, ATL adjusted their defense and Doc never adjusted back, there was no offensive creativity in those last four games

Rational and forward looking take : If Simmons isn't willing to hire a new sports psychologist, hit the gym with a new shooting coach, and change "something/anything/everything" then he no longer has a place on this team; it's purely mental right now

Philly's last four #1 picks have been :
Carson Wentz, Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz, and Mickey Moniak

Lonzo Ball>Ben Simmons

lol

Was thinking about that yesterday. Remember the arguments about who would be better, Simmons or Lonzo?

I'll bet Sixers fans would loooove to have Lonzo now.

Some of these takes are a little over the top.

if beal woke up today and wanted out, Simmons us the best return they’re gonna get.

Washington could reshuffle other chairs as they saw fit after that.

In fairness to Simmons, I'm pretty sure if the coaches told him to look for his shot, he'd be looking for his shot.

Simmons has had about as much luck finding his shot as OJ has finding the real killers.

I thought about this, but would WAS really want Westbrook and Simmons??????
How does one rationalize that if you're a WAS fan?????

that’s what my last line was referring to.

you figure it out. Simmons has enough talent that you roll with it.

somewhere like Chicago could be an interesting landing spot for Russ since they’re kinda in it to make the make the playoffs and don’t have the draft capital to make a splash another way.

I’m torn on this one. His value can be repaired and you can maybe get more for him next off season. At the same time, I feel like every season with Joel Embiid could be his last. History is not kind to big men who get injuries. You really don’t have the luxury of potentially wasting another season. I think they should shop Ben this summer and explore what’s out there. If there is a better fit, it’s time to jump on it. That may be best for Simmons as well. Some guys need a change of scenery to go to that next level.
I’m no longer torn on this. Simmons can’t play another game in a Sixers uniform. The fanbase and the city have turned against him. That play last night where he gives up a dunk so that Thybulle gets fouled was ridiculous and it doesn’t fly in Philly. You can be a lot of things and survive the ire of the fans but you can’t be a pussy in a big spot.

You mean like Randle in the Hawks series.

Curry has been the #2 for Philly in this series, he keeps improved every year. Very impressive
He gave it all back to Huerter though. Sixers are an incomplete team for a number of reasons. One of those is because Seth has to be a starter with this group. Ideally he’s a bench guy because he gets hunted and cooked on the defensive end. I’ve seen this with JJ Redick and Marco Belinelli. They’re shot makers but they can’t handle the other end and are a liability.
