LOVVVE the draft for Cleveland so far.

26- Newsome. They got a lanky, guy that has 4.4 speed and great cover skills, especially zone. I didn’t think he would make it to 26.

52- (trade up) JOK- I mean are you kidding me. All reward here. He was projected mid-1st. I get he is probably not a fit in most defensive schemes but put on a little weight in Woods’ scheme he can be a playmaker in time. Even if he fails it was worth the shot with that value.

91- Schwartz- I don’t love the player but I love the idea. After the KC game they desperately needed guys that stretch the field and keep the defense honest. I feel this was their “Mecole Hardman pick” here and he might be the fastest player in the NFL now.

Two early 4th’s today, I hope they got IDL and EDGE or S. Still some nice names at IDL: Nixon, Tufele, Brown, Togai

If I was a Cleveland fan I'd love the first two picks... and then absolutely wonder why the Browns are Cleveland Brown'ing again with Schwartz. Why in the holy mother of fuck are you drafting a track athlete to play football with a THIRD ROUNDER. He would've been there with either of the 4th rounders you guys have let alone probably your 6th. Willing to bet he fades into oblivion and rarely if ever sees the field. Despite everyone thinking it's speed/hands, wide receiver is largely about route running and setting up throws for your QB which is not something you learn overnight.

IMO he's a huge project... and the Browns are in win now mode... why the F are you taking him?

Everyone is so desperate to get the next Tyreek Hill... the entire NFC West (with exception of San Fran) even bit into the bug.

Zach Wilson looks like he could be one of Philip Rivers' kids.

Are we sure we've kept track of all of his offspring?

High ceiling, low floor kind of draft. But 1 thing you cannot argue against is the value. Newsome & JOK were stellar picks in terms of that value. And in reality, the Browns already have a Super Bowl contending roster so they really didn't NEED anything. Getting high upside talent that doesn't need to step in & start is a huge bonus.

JOK... He'll likely be a subpackage role player this year. Big Dime type slot LB (extra safety). I was not happy to see the Browns land this guy. Insane value.

Schwartz... About as worried about him as I was when the Bengals drafted John Ross... Not very much lol. Speed really doesn't translate to the NFL as well as everyone wants to believe it does. But with defenses keying on ODB, Landry & Higgins he could be a sneaky gadget player.

The Eagles got cute and traded down from 70 to 74 in exchange for a sixth rounder. It sounds like it cost them a player and Tom Donahoe, the personnel guy, was clearly steamed about it. Howie Roseman alluded to this when asked about this video.

My guess is that it was DT Alim McNeill of NC State, who got picked in that range. I am sure it will come out. That said...I kind of like the guy they took, Milton Williams.

My thoughts on the Steelers draft so far

1. Najee Harris, RB Alabama
No arguing that it’s a big need, but addressing the RB position before addressing the OL is hard to stomach. But a good GM knows the value is shallow at RB & deeper at OL so waiting is a smart move. Harris will have very high expectations right out the gate. B+

2. Pat Freiermuth, TE Penn St
Same need applies here. Big hole left by McDonald’s retirement. They need a capable blocking TE that can also have a big impact in the passing attack. I really wanted Creed Humphrey here to shoreBut up the OL. Hopefully Freiermuth is everything his comparisons crack up to be because I’m having a hard time justifying this pick. B-

3. Kendrick Green, C Illinois
They can redeem themselves here if Green can start week 1. Another big need. He’s a versatile interior lineman with a very physical presence for a smaller frame. His tape looks extremely promising. He should be able to compete for the starting position this year. A-

Welp Day 3.... someone (or a few folks) taken today will probably end up elite or with a huge contract in 5 years....

Your draft IMO basically went:

1) WTF?
2) Eh... okay....
3) About fuckin' time.

Nothing against the Steelers. I have zero clue WTF Seattle was thinking...

I trust Colbert more than I trust myself. But they will need big contributions from Harris & Freiermuth this year to justify those picks.

SEA’s WR pick was very puzzling... But par for the course for their drafting over the last decade or so. Always strange picks every year.

I've long given up trying to mock Seattle in the Carroll/Schneider regime. I've only ever gotten TWO picks right.. one was Okung which was blatantly obvious (#4 overall), the other was Jordan Reed.

I’d be amazed if anyone predicted more than those 2 in mocks for the Hawks.

The pick is in... now let’s wait 5-10 minutes to announce it every time.

Every time I tune in I quickly remember why I don’t watch the draft.

:pound:

NFL: "Is anyone even watching this?"
Broadcaster: "Yah there's a Pittsburgh and Seattle fan... those two dorks are the only ones tuned in."
NFL: "ADVERTISE!!!!"

If one of his kids went to BYU, he’d probably get the belt.

Rich get richer... Browns already have one of the top OL’s, and they get better depth with a great pick on Hudson. Underrated OT that could become a quality starter down the road.
