You cut out the part where I said they were Super Bowl contenders with a good QB because....?
you mean this?
"On the slim chance he rebuilds his career then the Colts get a bargain basement price and they are competing for a Super Bowl"

Well....we do agree it's a good trade for the Colts

Here is why this is a good trade for the Colts. If Wentz blows, they are only out a 3rd round pick and they can properly tank and get a top 5 pick in next year's draft. If they go one of these other routes with an okay QB then an okay QB gets Indy to 7 or 8 wins and they can't get a better QB next year.

This is a solid trade even if Wentz has proven to be kinda terrible. On the slim chance he rebuilds his career then the Colts get a bargain basement price and they are competing for a Super Bowl.
I know it's not just you. But the trade is a 2021 2nd, and a 2022 3rd that could be a 2021 1st.

I don't know what kicks the 3rd to a 1st, but I'm guessing it means Indy fixed Wentz and he looks like a franchise QB.

think it's a 2021 3rd and a conditional 2022 2nd that with 75% snaps or 70% snaps and playoffs becomes a 1st

A+ grade Colts, F grade Eagles.

Wow... really!? A QB who really only had one bad year (I'll give the rookie year a pass) outside of injuries (supported by terrible offensive lines - also granted riddled by injuries) you just give up on that quick? You got rid of the OC he was successful with and replaced him with fuckin' Mike Groh (LOL) thinking that was going to do fuck all...

Now all of you know I LOOOOVE to make fun of Carson 'Wince' but signing him to that terrible contract and then giving him basically ZERO support with questionable coaching over the last few years makes it a pretty bitter taste. It's interesting to me that they would move on from him so quick after spending so much on him without ever really providing any pieces needed to succeed.

And then on top of that, you'll absorb another $35M dead cap... and then go with Hurts who was... eh???? And then at BEST you get a 3rd and 1st (2022 - which is worth a 2nd today) rounder. Alright...

Meanwhile, the Colts have the 2nd most cap in the league, an EXCELLENT offensive line, and STILL enough draft capital to surround Carson 'Wince' with more talent. Not to mention he gets reunited with his former OC Reich, which is when Wentz was MOST successful. After Reich left Wentz plummeted.

If I was a Colts fan I'd be thrilled. If I was an Eagles fan... well I'd just lie and say I'm thrilled and that the Eagles DESTROYED the Colts in this trade... and then point the finger at Hurts when he sucks it up in < 1 year.

slim chance

Here is Wentz career:

1 year where he was an average rookie QB
1 year where he was challenging for the MVP on a stacked team but got hurt
1 year where he was an average QB but got hurt
1 year where he was an average QB*
1 year where he was the worst QB in football

There actually isn't a single complete year of good football in his career. I do think its fair to say 'slim chance' even though I do like the Colts roster. This is literally the best case scenario for Wentz imo but if he stinks it up again this year then yes I am implying that Wentz should hit the bench and the Colts should take the year off. No point in being the AFC version of the Bears.

* - I might be underselling this year. I'm actually looking over it now and he had a good season.

I'm far from a wentz supporter and posted it would be wise of the Colts to draft QB in round 1 if not round 2.

I think you under value the talent on the Colts and I also think it's crazy to think a team like the Colts tank a season. Maybe thats just me, but seldom if ever do teams in the NFL approach a season like NBA teams. That shit doesn't sell well with your roster in this sport

I do think you're right about the 'tank' not being realistic because of what we saw last year with the Jets and Eagles. In order to properly tank you have to be like the Jaguars and just sell off your players in the offseason.

I will say that Wentz playing like he did last year is good enough to get you a top 5 pick as long as you aren't in the worst division in football. Cowboys lost Dak and had a bad defense, WFT had their rookie QB bust, Giants lost Barkley....that was as easy a spot as Wentz could have ever hoped for and he stunk. If he stinks on that level again, he'll likely get benched, and maybe their backup QB gets them to 8-8 but if Wentz plays like he did last year then he is worse than many backup QBs.

Seems like both teams can come out okay here. Definitely a better deal for the Colts though.

It’s going to be hilarious when Wentz leads Indy to 10 straight playoff appearances and Philly continues to Philly.

the eagles offense under hurts would have placed them 9th in the NFL. keep in mind, he didn't play the 4th against washington either. the eagles offense under wentz was around 26th.

wentz is 29 already this season. 0 playoff wins. not even a full quarter of playoff experience. a gimpy, 40+ year old mccown moved the ball significantly better against the hawks than he ever could. foles easily outplayed him. a young, inexperienced hurts outplayed him.

he's cabbage, ginger muff cabbage.
