The Steelers don't appear to be in terrible cap shape. Pouncey's retirement takes $8M off the books. Roethlisberger will either retire or extend which will add at least $9M in space. Watt and DeCastro are on high salary 1-year/last year deals. Extending or moving them will create space. The Steelers won't be making big splashes in the FA market, but then they rarely do.

What I been seeing is the Steelers are already facing a shitload of roster cuts to get under the cap as it is.

Don't know how salary-cap realistic it is for the Steelers to sign him.
It depends on how little JJ will take just play with his brothers.

Even before the Watt release, the Bills have been considering freeing up substantial cap space by releasing several high priced veterans over the age of 30. One article has the Bills releasing John Brown, Cole Beasly, Quinton Jefferson, and Vernon Butler, for a combined savings of $28 million.
That's a lot of production lost. Not sure the Bills should invest in an oft injured JJ unless he comes on the cheap.

Watt is a great talent, but I would not pay a premium price to sign him. Odds are he gives you no more than 5 games.
I'll take the over. But believe he doesn't play more then 1/2 the season.

I must say I'm quite surprised he's not being mentioned for going to NE?
Every other high caliber FA is always mentioned about going to NE.

They need a pass rusher. He's a BB type of player and NE has the cap space.

He was going to be released no matter if he wanted to be or not.

He’s not worth what he was owed. Or even close to it.

I’d like it to be Green Bay he signs with, since he’s not an impact player at this point. But I kinda think it will be the Chargers or Rams. Cuz this guy loves attention and air time.

We’ll see.

Because New England sucks now and no one wants to go there any more :noidea:

Yeah, I look at that list and Dallas is the one that doesn't look right.

Steelers don't make any sense either if a ring is his motivation. There's the obvious link to play with his brother, but that team disintegrated down the stretch, just lost their center and either have a ghost of the former Ben at QB or even worse, the rest of their QB depth chart.

The reason to play in New England is now in Tampa. Bill may still be a draw, but he needs a more competitive team to draw big names (even if on the decline).

Brown and Butler didn't do much last season. Gabe Davis likely slots in for Brown into the starting lineup. I'm not so sure they cut Beasley, unless they draft his replacement. They still have last year's rookie Hodgins that was on IR, but he's not the same kind of receiver (he likely slots into Davis' 4th receiver role). Cutting Vernon (and maybe Jefferson) easily opens a role for JJ. Murphy could also be gone as a FA.

Those money savings won't all go to JJ though, as they need to retain Milano first and foremost. OL Feliciano, WIlliams and Boettger, CB Wallace, and WR McKenzie (or KR Roberts) are also free agents with defined roles. Most of the rest are either easily replaceable or would only be brought back at pay cuts IMO.

again, i dont disagree. But if tou have anything of even remote value, why would you not just go fishing for a bit?

Nobody is going to pay $17.5M for aging JJ Watt. Even Houston was going to cut him and try to bring him back cheaper if he was interested in staying. That cap space is way more valuable than 5 sacks and 14 TFL to any team.

Seahawks, Packers, Steelers or Bills? I would imagine this is to chase a ring so I think he would come on a manageable deal if he goes somewhere for the money I don't feel bad for him for finishing his career in the dirt.

So he has zero value, to anyone? There is not even an inkling that someone could give a 7th for him? Zero chance?

Do bills have the space? Think packers r the logical choice.

I think the Texans would have looked to get a mid-round pick for him but his salary was the main obstacle, I’m assuming. I could see him getting a 2 year deal for $24-28M though with an opton year or something
