QB D. Watson is said to be angry at the Texans. Who wouldn't be after they traded away his best WR. He's even more angry with the way they have handled their GM hiring.

There are rumors that he would consider a trade to the Fins.

I will preface my comments by saying that if the Fins build their offense like the Saints with a great oline (they have already been adding talent) & dynamic playmakers (we can expect that this offseason) then the Fins could be special. I see some Brees potential in Tua. If no trade happens it wouldn't surprise me if Tua take his game to the next level.

If the Fins have the opportunity to add Watson then they should consider it. It would be costly in trade assets and payroll, however, he is a proven commodity.

For the Texans they need a lot more than a QB to be competitive. They need a total rebuild. The Fins are one of only 3 teams with 2 first round picks this year and the Fins also have 2 second rounders to negotiate with. One of the picks is a top 3. The Texans could get their next QB on a rookie salary and more assets. I wouldn't sell the farm for Watson, however if both sides want a trade then something could get done.

I can see him fitting in with the Dolphins but right now with all your draft picks I say use them on players to build for the future instead of using them to get Watson.. Stick with the formula and plan that has gotten you guys to where you currently are. It's been working

Thanks for the advice. I am sure as a Pats fan you have the Fins best interest in mind. lol

I view it as a win/win situation either way. The Fins have a lot of draft capital & are a 10 win team on the rise. Whoever the QB is I am thinking he will have a lot to work with after the draft & free agency & the development of about a dozen rookies who played.

If the Fins land Watson he would take the offense to a different level quickly.

As long as the price isn’t exorbitant, then it’d be a good move.
Rumor has it X may hold out because he wants to be the highest paid CB in football, so now he’s involved with these rumors.

X is a gamechanger. He isn't only a shutdown corner he gets INTs weekly. Who does that? It's wise for the Texans to try to land him in a deal. There defense was horrible. He would be a big loss for the Fins but it could be worth it to land Watson. The Fins could run the defense that they want because they have him & Jones on the field. I am not sure if the Fins would let him go.

Offer Tua, both firsts and a 2nd rounder....

You get a stud QB to go with that defense....add some playmakers in FA and the draft.

They win the East next season.

Win the East and compete with the Chiefs to go to the SB.

It might be a lot to get him but they have their QB for the next 8-10 years.

Watson wants out -- has interest in coming to Miami -- instant improvement -- proven guy with talent and a lot left in his tank. It is a no brainer. If the team wants to get better -- there should be ZERO hesitation to make the move. He will waive his no-trade clause to Miami.

No, bad idea. That is a lot for a good, but not a great QB. There are better options for Fins. Tua will be fine, give him some players. How many teams scrap a #5 draft like this. If Fins want a QB to compete against Tua, they can get one with 3rd or 18th pick, not trade away future for a QB

All of their first-round picks since 2011 were in the league in 2020, but only one from before 2019 was still with the Fins, DeVante Parker, No. 14, 2015, so better drafting is key that fits team, not trade picks for good, but not great players.

Watson is excellent. Maybe try a draft day trade after trading down from three and trade away those new picks plus a 1st rounder next year. We can throw in Tua but we don’t know if HOU likes him. Maybe offer to take on a bad contract.

The Fins #3 pick is the equivalent of two first round picks based on the value chart because it's so early in the draft. The Fins and Texans would have options if they want to work out a deal because of the amount of draft capital the Fins have.

IMO big mistake if they trade top picks this year and some lower ones for Watson, He will kill cap money as well. Stay with Tua, draft Devonta at 3, get Jones at 18 (think he will still be there) if you think you need another QB.

As I said JMO would not be good move, but I'm an overweight sales guy sitting on my couch. I don't think Fins should bail that quick on last years #5 pick.

I agree with you that the safe bet is to continue to build via the draft. They could even trade back from 3 and acquire more picks still ending up with a very good player(s). When you add up the cap and players they could draft is Watson with an empty cupboard better? Fins could end up where houston is now in the shitter. Don't get me wrong doesn't hurt to listen maybe the price isn't as high as I'm thinking but no matter which way they go there is some risk involved. Its not like houston hasn't had some talent over there and where has watson taken them???

It would take the whole farm at this point.....

Watson has a no trade clause. He will get to pick his next team. He wants to play for the Fins. The Fins have the assets to make a trade. I don't think the trade terms would be too outrageous.

Devonta Smith will spend time with the Fins coaching staff at the Senior Bowl. He is an option if the Fins stay the course with the rebuild with Tua. The team has the draft capitol to build around Tua if they decide to. Tua will have a full off season to improve his game and he's a dedicated athlete.

That can't happen. He needs to be traded immediately if it is going to happen, before beginning of new NFL league year. If not, the Texans eat so many millions in cap it is not even funny. They would have to cut 1/5 to 1/4 of their team to offset the cap penalty.

Trade rumors are heating up again. I doubt it happens. I think the Texans asking price is ridiculous. 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders for a player with unresolved legal issues and disciplinary issues from the NFL. He also has a huge contract that has to be factored in.

Tua has played well this off-season, has a rapport with his teammates, and has not embarrassed himself or his team with his off field behavior. Also, he is in a rookie contract that allows the team to keep more talent around him.

Regular season games are about to start. I am thinking the Texans must be getting really desperate to make a trade at this point.

I would not be surprised if the Texans are floating these rumors.
If Miami fans were not outraged then Watson might get better press.

I think the only reason fans are not outragede is we're getting tired of this crap.
Do you think Miami fans would welcome Watson before legal issues resolved? After?

Most Dolphins fans believe in Tua, especially now since he is showing his development and he's healthy. He has alleviated a lot of the uncertainty about him. I would say that most Fins fans recognize that the Texans need to get rid of Watson more than the Fins need him. They have lost a lot of bargaining power in a trade.
