What hurt Ohio State the most was having to face Bama's loaded offense. There wasn't a team in the country that would have beaten the Tide.

Sermon. In order to keep up with Bama Ohio State would have needed a Zeke Elliott type performance to control the ball and keep that crazy offense off the field. Master Teague is not a bad back, but he isn't capable of that, Trey Sermon is.

The defensive line out hurt for sure but they werent going to be a big enough difference. You aren't stopping that offense, you have to limit their possessions and outscore them

You didn't answer my question...I know you want to give Bama props...

The thing that hurt osu the most was their self inflicted loss of guys due to Covid. It wouldn’t have made a difference in the outcome of the game,

Bama was that much better. Had Bama not lost smith, they could have put 70 points on the board.

I don't know I thought Alabama exploited the middle ...especially on short yardage.

My bad there. Both hurt the Buckeyes. But going with Sermon. Without him the running game wasn't the same. Even if Ohio State had those defensive starters they weren't slowing down the Tide's high octane offense.

How many times did OSU hold Alabama to a third and short only to see Harris get the yardage needed? How many times did Etanine(sp) on Clemson do this?

OSU with everyone healthy needed to play a perfect game to beat Alabama, but not being able to get off the field on third downs hurt them the most IMO.

Both those guys are first rounders they certainly would have helped...especially on the short yardage.

There were at least a few runs in the first half where Sermon would have gained 10+ yards instead of the 3-4 Teague did. Having him in the game would have let us hang around longer. Bama would have still won, but I think it would have at least been a game into the 3rd quarter or so.

That is true as well. Not only 3rd and short, but a couple 4th downs.

I would like to watch the game sober first but that was my thought...plus you could tell Fields was hurting.

I wonder if we would have played fewer dumbass 4 LB sets if our line was there.

I think this is like asking "which jelly donut was more to blame for the death of John Candy?"

Obviously Fields being banged up, and Sermon getting knocked out from the first possession made it an easier blowout for Bama, but the Buckeyes weren't winning this game, in my opinion, even if their entire team was at 100%. A healthier team would have likely made it a more competitive game, but I still think Ohio State loses by double digits regardless. I am biased though.

Combination of both actually. Still can't believe Sermon injured on 1st play of the game. That was just a huge blow. not to mention Fields wasn't healthy.

Bama still would've won, but the score would've been closer. additionally OSU was robbed of a legit TD.

Maybe, change the question to give an idea of what it is you want to hear. The 2 def. guys being out hurt.

I thought it was a simple question but I think you answered it and I agree.

Bama's offense was so dynamic this year they would have beaten any team in the country by at least 14/17 points. They were just that good.
