I think Riviera didn’t want Haskins and looked at the schedule and saw that the next six or seven games are not that strong opponents and those games could cement Haskins as his starter. So better to make the move now than later. I know he doesn’t look at any part as a gimmie and if he believed in Haskins, this would be a good opportunity, but I could also see that he believes he’s not long-term and he wants to be able to move on.

When i mentioned this the board filliped out. When I gave my reasoning its the exact same reason that RR gave in the espn article. Allen is ready mentality and could win now. RR has not given up on this team. Love it!!

Nah. Switch happened. Likely because of behind the scenes lack of growth at meetings and practice that we are not privy to and YOU never mentioned. I suspect if DH were doing things right there, RR woulda given him a longer hook. Earlier than I expected but I’m on the board saying I thought he’d give him til the bye week.

One point I’ll give ya and I did before, the weak NFCE definitely played a role here.

Obviously RR has seen enough. Allen is not the answer for the long term, but I’m hoping winning on the field will become the norm from now on. I was not on board with what was going on at the end of games from the beginning.

Bet RR got HEAT in the locker room for not trying to win games 2 and 3 from his young guns on D. Probably played into the decision too.

It’s a bad decision dean and I have lost a little respect. For the HC .

However it’s done so if you are a fan you try to support it .

But I know what will happen . You will sour on Allen the first bad game he has or when we are eliminated from the playoffs and we will be back to square one

Perhaps. But not if Allen can just perform well enough to be a bridge guy. The new QBs are making a difference quicker these days. Look at Minchew, Herbert, Burrow. Think that played into things too myself

What I think is funny is dean thinks he was right . I have maintained that Haskins needs to be the guy to take us to the playoffs . If you replace him you are in the market. For a new qb . Allen has to prove he is a franchise qb . I hope he does. But this team is a 4 win team

Burrow is a franchise talent but no one on this board will be satisfied with a game manager . That’s the best Allen will ever be
