The Rockets are exactly what I expected them to be with Harden. Harden has actually been better than I thought but the result has been exactly what I expected.

Harden seems to get better every year. Uber efficient on offense, but now he plays D, too. AD tried to post him up a couple of times last night, but Harden forced him to take fadeaway jumpers.

Yep. Gotta give the Rockets credit, they actually played some defense too. But, as you said, it was still the expected result.

They weren't a great team. They were a very good team who got beat by a great team.

Back in the day, the Lakers lost 8 times to the Celtics in the finals. No one says, "Wow, those were great Lakers teams, they made the finals 8 times". All anyone remembers is that they lost 8 times.

Another comparison is Sham to Secretariat. In most any other year, Sham is the best horse.

Yes, history won't be kind to the Rockets like it isn't kind to the Laker teams that repeatedly lost to the Celtics, but the 2018 Rockets were at a very high level of play, IMO, maybe among the highest.

No denying they played well. Obviously, when a team makes the conference finals and pushes a team like the Warriors to 7 games, they don't exactly suck. lol

Long answer?

Meh, hard to blame D'Antoni, imo.

D'Antoni believes in his small ball system and he has had a fair amount of success with it. He's been running his system long enough that anyone who's been paying attention knows exactly what they're getting.

The Rockets FO decided to go all in on his system. So, imo, it's more on them than on D'Antoni.
Trojan fan kinda nails it. Yes, D'Antoni has had "success" with his system, but time after time we've seen his teams not deliver in the playoffs. He refuses to alter his approach, and teams continue to hire him and let him run the same scheme

It was a failure to start. You're never gonna win a ring with D'antoni as coach. His track record since 2005 has proven that. And you're definitely not going to win one with WestBRICK/harden. If they couldnt' with KD in OKC, they sure as shit aint winning one together They cancel each other out with their style's of games. Oil and Water

I think the Clippers losing game seven against the Nuggets would be a bigger let down and funny as hell

The Clippers losing this series would be one of the worst, maybe the worst loss in franchise history. It would be a much worse loss than OKC up 3-1 on GS and losing. The Clippers have much more experience than the Nuggets but while I dont think the Clippers have been playing bad basketball...I think the Nuggets are just playing better especially in the 2nd half. We are seeing this team grow before our eyes. I’m not sure what it is about the 3rd quarter but they thrive being down in the 3rd, it’s weird

Nothing would make me happier than to see the Clippers lose to the Nuggets... It would be glorious

Not even close, unless you had Kevin Durant and didn’t win you don’t even make the first cut on the most disappointing contest

Aside from the baby Thunder with Harden, This Clipper team has more talent than any other OKC squad.

Obviously, this is premature talk. If they do end up losing...doesn't Rivers deserve a great amount of the blame here?

It seems like people always talk about how he is one of the best coaches...while I think he is a very good coach, I think he is overrated. He has one championship with the big 3 and barely won in a Game 7. The Clippers always seemed to not have enough with their "Big 3". Now he has the most talented team in the league, yes I know this is year 1 of Kawhi and PG, but still, there is no excuse giving up these big leads in the 2nd half. I think Doc should take the brunt of this loss if it happens. I think he is a damn good regular season coach but seems to be slacking in the playoffs..idk

A lot of his rep also comes from how well they played last year with no big names at all on the team.

But yeah if they choke this series away his rep takes a big hit

I think it is fair to say he is overrated.

1 title with a loaded team in Boston, never made the WCF with CP3, Blake and company in LAC, now on the brink with easily the most complete roster in the league.

He needs to win a ring with this group.

I don’t think he is a bad coach, but he probably isn’t one of the best either.

I have always thought he was overrated. He takes Garnett's credit for coaching the Celtics; I mean, Rivers didn't get Perkins to play better by making him cry.

The Clippers loss to the Nuggets is going to go down in History as the biggest let down in recent NBA history...

I think this one is bigger... Clippers with a new owner, signed the best player in the NBA was expected to win it all..
Repeat title team up 3-1, not expected to "win it all" ? :noidea:
