So, my final analysis, Mitch is 1/4 of a hall of fame quarterback. Still not good enough.

Keep in mind he did it against a pathetic franchise that has made blowing leads an art form with a ST player and backups all over the secondary.

Love the comeback but I walk away with more concern than elation from this one.

pass rush was awful
Trevathan sucked all game and that would be TD at the end was on him if not for the drop
Goldman was sorely missed
Nagy made some horrible coaching

Good things....

Jaylon Johnson looked very good
Oline played well
Run game was strong

love the win but knowing it came against the lions you have to take it with a grain of salt

A win is a win. Take the good and hope they build on it regardless of who you're facing. You can only play who's on your schedule.

You're gonna pound in that halftime deal, eh?

How about a counterpoint: Nagy held faith in his QB that he could take the team down for a 1-minute scoring drive at the end of half to give us some momentum after a rough start...which would be helpful considering the Lions opened the second half with the ball. He opened the drive with a swing that we took out of bounds, but it was one of those plays that could have been big gainer and moved the clock if Tarik does his thing. Then put it in Mitch's hands. If you argue it was a bad idea? Then you argue against sticking with Trubisky the whole f*cking time, honestly...which IIRC you've been somewhat a Mitch backer on here. It IS like you're arguing against Mitch here. Because f*ck all if we had Drew Brees/Aaron Rodgers/Tom Brady/insert any franchise QB here...we'd want the team to go for points at the end of half. Regardless of prior results. You ride your horses.

Confidence is everything. Your coach did that. Full 100% confidence in a QB that most of the NFL world is scoffing at. And was rewarded in the end. But that end of half was 100% backing of Mitch. And could be argued as yet another in a long line of Nagy's backing of him that led to Mitch Montana FINALLY showing up in the 4th. Will it continue? We'll see.

I'm pounding it, huh? There are multiple boards, so maybe I've mentioned it a couple times, but that's better than ignoring it completely like everyone seems to be doing.

I spoke about understanding the confidence aspect of it, but you also have to be smart there, even if you had some frankenstein of all the best QBs ever back there. You have to realize, that if you pass it three straight downs, and don't get the first, your CONFIDENCE is now trumped by your CARELESSNESS. That confidence was a 14 point swing and completely deflating.

It was poor coaching. Just say it. It's ok.

Indeed. But some Mitch fans are going all I told you so on social media this morning.

Nah. I won't. LOL.

When you have one of the (if not the) best defense in the league and they haven't given up a touchdown yet, go for points and if they falter in 30 seconds giving up a TD on the flip, so be it. I prefer an aggressive coach. The guy you're touting here is "playing to lose" imo.

Everyone knows this is like the Lions thing. Not even Mitch can stand in their way. They're like the Beethoven of f*cking up. Mitch has a LONG way to go. But I honestly thought our season was over in the middle of the 3rd quarter...so you gotta cut the overzealous some slack. We just got the most crazy buttonhooking turn of events in a Bears season since possibly the Mike Brown back-to-backs...

From your own 5, huh? In a 6-6 game? A game where both teams had played cautiously and conservative for the prior 29 minutes? Let's go all-in in NOW, from our own 5, with 50 seconds to half? There is zero logic to that.

Playing to lose? That series probably should've cost them the game. It certainly put them in the hole. It was severely lacking in the situational awareness category. Jesus...Madden is rolling over in his grave. That's not playing to lose, that's just accepting that this isn't Madden, and that the risk/reward is probably not worth it. Like I said initially, I don't mind "going for it", but you have to be smart about it. They didn't pick up enough on first down, to throw all caution to the wind. 3 plays in 14 seconds, is a poor series, and the fault lies at the coaches feet there.

They were on the 11, not the 5...That's a big difference...and I guarantee you a team with a star QB would have went for it. You're complaining because you were scared because #NagyMitch. There is no situational awareness call there. It was the first half of the first game of the season. 2 quarters isn't trend enough for a coach to change his entire philosophy/approach to the game...That's for meatball fans like you and me to do.

It was indeed awful coaching. You run it on second down if the first down pass is incomplete. At the very least you go play action because even a sack means time off the board and they wont waste a time out with one more play to defend. If the lions didnt lion, you guys lose this game. The shake is right on this, plain and simple.

His entire approach/philosophy up until that point, was conservative and close to the vest. So ya, I agree, you don't change your approach/philosophy there. Unfortunately, that's exactly what Nagy did.

I try to go counterpoint and sh*t pickle runs in from the locker room and hits me with a chair.

Nagy's wacky and wild offense has no tendencies, other than not scoring much. Were people in motion? Then we're good and you can go to hell.

On a serious note:

It wasn't incomplete on first down. Cohen went out of bounds...but I see what you're saying and it applies either way. You do realize that Detroit had timeouts still and despite 20/20 hindsight, our defense is pretty good, right?

Anyone else notice that once the Bears discovered that Anthony Miller is still on the roster, they suddenly started playing like the effective offense we were all hoping they'd be this year?
