Seriously, you can probably have Doumit for a mid-level prospect. He's so bad defensively that even his above-average to good bat can't compensate. He's been a negative asset to the Pirates this year. But as a DH, I think he'd be quite competent. So he'd likely have more value in the AL than the NL.

But I've heard nothing about the Minnesota rumor. What do you know? I know Liriano's been one of few pitchers more valuable than Lee this year, though.

I just looked it up, and Liriano's been worth 4.2 WAR (wins above replacement), and Lee's been worth 4.0. Halladay's in between with a 4.1. The top five is rounded out by Josh Johnson of the Marlins (quietly having an absolutely stellar season) at 3.9 and Jon Lester at 3.5.

Furthermore, Doumit's been 0.7 WAR this season, but his fielding rating is -8.2, the worst among all qualified catchers. So he'd probably be a decent DH, but don't ask him to catch for you.

The Spokesman's sports page had Lee and either Aardsma or League for 3 prospects, plus a first round draft pick next year.
