I misspoke, what I was trying to get across like I had said in my other post. Is that he was the best prospect in a decade. That was not decided in his 12 final games.

It WAS decided in his last 12 games because he was NOT the best prospect in a decade BEFORE those last 12 games. NO ONE thought that Joe Burrow was the top QB prior to the season last year. He frigging transferred from Ohio State because Dwayne Haskins was the starter there.

A four star recruit and 8th QB overall in 2015. As I've been saying, these kids don't come out of nowhere in their senior season.
Joe Burrow says his first 'real' scholarship offer was from Lincoln Riley and East Carolina

JFC. Do you know how many 4 star recruits never play in the NFL?

Burrow was the 210th ranked player in the 2015 recruiting class and was the 15th ranked QB in that class..

2015 Top Quarterback Recruits

Behind such illustrious stars as Jauan Jennings, Bradnon Wimbush and Ricky Town.

But, sure, being the 210th ranked player in your recruiting class and 15th at your position is definitely a sign of being one of the great QB prospects in the last 10 years.

It's amusing how far you will go to argue this position.

JFC the article says he was the 8th best. Again we can likely do this all day.

You do understand last year was one of the weaker darfts for QBs don't you?

So using Burrow to strengthen your argument was a failure to start with.

But keep posting things that have almost nothing to do with whether or not the Adams trade was good or not?

You and the others don't just move the goal posts, you move the entire stadium. Try staying focused.

Not that 8th best and 15th best makes some sort of material difference but I linked to the actual ranking site that the article used.

So using Burrow to strengthen your argument was a failure to start with.

Well I can't say I'm surprised in the least by this response.

You don't actually believe any of the crap you are saying. You just keep moving the argument along once your previous argument is torn apart.

Whether last year was a weak or strong QB draft class is entirely irrelevant to the discussion. The point is about how much Joe Burrow moved up the draft board BECAUSE of his final college season. You tried to argue that since he was a 4 star recruit and the whopping 8th ranked QB in his draft class, it makes sense that he is the No 1. pick in the draft last year. I have to say that was a remarkably absurd argument even for you. So I get why you are trying to deflect to some other argument because you clearly realize how dumb that argument was.

At this point I'm just curious about how many ridiculous arguments you are going to try and peddle.

You can twist and turn this as many ways as you want.

You argue he was #1 in order to try and strengthen your arguement. If 8 to 15 isn't significant nor is 8-1.

Again stay focused here
The original arguement should a 1st round pick be valued different from last year to this year or next year.

The answer is still no. You still get the same amount of compensation (if not more in this case) for that pick.

It appears some of the 12s feel that draft prospects need to play games right up until the draft. Because 4 years + of tape, psychological interviews, the combine, back ground investigations just isn't enough. Damn it we want one game. No wait we need another after that. All to figure out what the actual value of a first round pick is:doh:

Maybe this is the same issue the Hawks front office has? No wonder they can't successfully draft in the first.

[QUOTE="flyerhawk, post:

Why did former MVP Cam Newton sign with the Patriots on a glorified veteran minimum deal?

No one is suggesting that recent play is the only factor that matters in assessing a player. But it is, by far, the most important factor.[/QUOTE]

Do you think it may have had something to do with his past injuries? Or possibly his attitude?

He's still throwing at around a 60% completion rate.

Look here you go again. Coming up with things that have zero to do with the value of a first round pick.

I'm on record. Not a Cam fan. Too many interceptions and that post game meltdown and not going after that loose ball was enough for me.

Do I hope does well if he gets the starting job? Of course but I'd never wear a jersey of his.

This is the sort of argument that shows that you argue in bad faith. The discussion is about whether Joe Burrow's final season made a difference in his draft spot. The only person on the planet who is arguing no, is you.

I provide you the actual list from the same website as the article you provided that shows he was the 15th ranked QB in his recruiting class. Doesn't matter because you read an article that says he was 8th and so you will treat that as gospel. I show you that he was the 210th ranked recruit in his class. Doesn't matter. I point out that he was the BACKUP to Dwayne Haskins in Ohio State and transferred to LSU. Doesn't matter, he was still magically the future consensus No. 1 pick. Because reasons.

Well you don't know what their actual value will be next year. There will be more uncertainty with each pick next year, if there is no college season. As such, there will be less consensus on the value of players. As such there is a reasonable belief that the VALUE of draft picks will be weakened because teams will try to trade down to get more picks and fewer teams will be interested in trading up because they will have less certainty in their choices. IOW teams will want more picks because they have less certainty. Basic supply/demand rules tell us that the value of draft picks will decrease.

Of course you will ignore al this and argue some other irrelevancy because you just want to troll Seahawk fans. Since you claimed that you wanted to talk about this trade from both sides you have managed to talk about the Jets all of ZERO times. Why is that?

It most certainly is relevant. Many Hawk fans are trying to justify the trade by saying because there may not be a college football season those picks carry less value. They don't.

It's not that they necessarily carry less value. It's that the value is different for the Seahawks than the Jets.

It's the difference between a team that is trying to win now vs. a team that is building for it's future.

Because the Seahawks are in "win now mode", draft picks are more valuable as trade pieces than as "building blocks" because they are not in position to wait 3-4 years for a guy to develop. By the time he does, their window may have closed.

The Jets are developing their talent and building for the future. So, draft picks hold more value for them than a veteran player who they'd have to pay big money to keep.

So imo, it's a win for both teams. The Seahawks got a player who can help them win right now and the Jets got draft picks so they can get guys they can develop and help them 2-4 years from now when they're possibly contenders.

Here are the issues I have with you and the other 12s like you.

1. No this wasn't the argument. This is where you chose to take it. "The discussion is about whether Joe Burrow's final season made a difference in his draft spot."

2. So your articles matter but no one else do? "Doesn't matter because you read an article that says he was 8th and so you will treat that as gospel." OK got ya

3. Here is part of the problem, you continue to argue the value of the player. While I've continually argued the value of the "pick". Prior to the draft and until that players career with that team ends we can't put a value on it. Finally we agree. "Well you don't know what their actual value will be next year."

4. I never said I wanted to talk it from the Jets side. You told us you didn't care about anything but how it affect the Hawks. I'm paraphrasing. How can you be objective?

Everytime I argue it was bad for Seattle that conversely means it was good for NY. It's also easier to argue my point if you and others would stay on point and not go all over the place.

Thank you breathing a little common sense into this thread. About 25 pages or so ago, a few 12s got butt hurt that I and others said NY got the better of this deal. They felt the need to try and devalue the value of the picks and the player they gave up. Since then it's gone all over the place.

We won't know who got the better of the deal for a few years.

If Jamaal Adams helps the Seahawks make some deep playoff runs and get to a Super Bowl or 2 and the Jets draft guys that don't turn into much...then the Seahawks will have gotten the better of the deal.

If Adams doesn't have much impact on the Seahawks performance and the Jets draft picks develop into players that help them get things turned around, they will have gotten the better of the deal.

If both teams get what they are hoping for out of this...it's a win/win.

2. I didn't link to an article. I linked to the actual source which your article used as well. Your article simply counted wrong.

3. I literally talked about the draft pick value and you just chose to ignore it.

4. I never claimed to be objective. You pretend to be objective despite the YEARS you have spent here being anti-Seahawks.

It is just hilarious that you would accuse me of moving all over the place.

I heard Adams described as Kam Chancellor, but with coverage skills that Kam didn't have.

If he's even close to that, he'll be a big help.

1. You need to take the blinders off and comprehend what's being written. I don't know what else to tell you. I've talked about the value of picks. Not the perceived value of a current player or a future player.

2. So your source after written and published wouldn't be considered an article?

3. No I didn't, but you chose to take it all over the place. How many times did I have to say I'm talking about the value of picks not the perceived value of a player.

4. This is classic. Just another perception of yours that is wrong. Very few 12s are objective. Pretty tough to carry on an open non biased conversation.

not as physically imposing but much better coverage skills and speed.

Ryan Clark was on Brock and Salk and was talking about he was a great fit for Seattle.

time will tell
