Exactly....one BIG difference here...Bell has just played under a tag and that money fueled his ability to not play under it the following year.

It still failed miserably, in terms of getting him that huge payday he was seeking...Jones is coming off a rookie contract year...it would be even more of a stupid move for him to leave $16 mil on the table chasing a $20 mil per long term deal. I think the new CBA makes it even more difficult for players to sit out...I don't know the new details of the CBA i nthat regard, but Jones should NOT be consulting with Bell here.

i think jones and bell are friends and they have been speaking about this.

jones could skip the season. that's his right. he'd be leaving $16 mill on the table though and who knows what the FA market is going to look like the next couple of years with many questions surrounding the salary cap.

I'd be curious to know if KC actually offered him a long term deal and they couldn't come to terms or they just went straight to the tag...nothing is going to get done long term in KC until Mahomes is secured unless it's way below market.

I don't think the NFL or college football will have a season this year. It'll be an odd draft next year. Drafting players who haven't played for so long. Will the 2019 class still be considered rookies?

yeah, really, with the Mahomes contract and not knowing about the cap situation after this year, the Chiefs are really in no position to sign Jones long term unless it's at a big discount and, word around here, is that he wants an Aaron Donald size contract and they just won't and shouldn't do that.
