The 83-79 cardinals won a World Series. Everybody can live with a champion of a 60 gm season. If they can’t, they are weird baseball elitists

I do think there's something to be said for making the playoffs in a 162 game season (or even 144 like in 1995) versus 60 games, but that doesn't mean we should try to take any of the joy away from the winning fanbase. I'm not going to complain I'm just happy there will be baseball, even if it's a shitshow.

I think they should just embrace the fact it's a gap season. Why not implement more of the proposed changes? I heard they are going to go with the DH (as mentioned) and having a runner start at 2nd during extras. Experiment some, what do they have to lose?

the DH is not real baseball. why does the AL get to tell the NL how they have to play their games???

  • Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Yankees and Nationals are one of the games planned for MLB's planned Opening Day on July 23.
If all goes as planned, it could be a face-off between Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole in his Yankees' debut. Of course, there's still a long way to go before July 23 and it's impossible to predict how COVID-19 could change things. Still, it's fun to think about at the very least. The union signed off on a 60-game schedule on Thursday, but MLB is still working on the final product before making an official announcement. That should happen soon.

Does anyone know how prospect callups and service time works for this season... I understand the roster size will be larger...

But will teams let their top prospects play?? talking about service time here...

Boo! NL Baseball is now dead.

don't be a hypocrite... don't be one of those NL fans that were crying during the negotiations that there NEEDS to be baseball this season, and then now cry about the results...

Last I heard (late last week on the AM show, iirc), service time is still an issue that needs to be ironed out. It is an interesting problem that will drastically effect roster management this year.

But he wanted BASEBALL back. Not that low-attention-span ADD abortion of an activity they practice in the AL. That is NOT baseball.

so the answer to my question is that there is no answer yet??

but didn't you want baseball back at any form?? I mean it was a given that with only 60 games, and all the other factors that this season would be different... why is that this one difference is the straw.... would you rather there be no baseball at all??

The universal DH was one of the first things agreed upon in all the negotiations... we knew it was happening this whole time...

So you are cool with on essentially every 3rd and long in football that the kicker or punter has to come in to play QB?

No hypocrite here, as I would have preferred no baseball than NL baseball with the DH. I think the entire season should be cancelled. That being said, Go Reds!

I think it's fun. We've all seen plenty of regular baseball seasons and we'll all see plenty more.

Enjoy it for what it is. Something different. I am looking forward to it.

This year has brought so much negativity and anger out of people. I can't possibly bring myself to bitch and moan about baseball playing a shortened season. It should be something that helps bring people back together.

It's a game. Enjoy it.

You have to remember who you are talking to. I am the poster child for no DH. And the idea of the universal DH getting implemented this year still makes no sense to me. Do pitchers hitting, or managers having to use their noggins somehow increase the spread of Covid?

That said, I honestly DO understand why the DH is getting implemented. It is a foot in the door. And it is a concept that both owners and players agree on (Owners can market the game to the video game generation and players get another starter-level salary per roster).
