The kid is from the Phoenix area. Minnesota wasn't even in the picture until the night before he was supposed to announce and then all of a sudden the crystal ball started changing and all those Minny cvnts were posting stupid ass gopher GIF's on his twitter.

Smart not to sign with a school in P12, it’s a conference on the downhill slide

Maybe he heard about the other PSU signee. Nebraska, well, they are Nebraska, and that used to mean something. not lately or for the foreseeable future, but they used to be

Until we wake up and get a coach that isn’t more useless than two teats on a boar hog, we will continue to be a 7-9 win team

Although the PAC is a conference of poors these days, Washington has been consistently sending DB's to the NFL these past six years.

Well, there were virtual prostitutes in his virtual tour, so I totally get it.
I still don't understand how Minny with about zero history of putting DB's in the NFL in the past twenty years can just jump in at the last minute and nab that kid.

Could be he knows he will start day one. At Washington I assume he'd start off on being a back up on the depth chart. To some kids playing time trumps being on a better team. Instant gratification instead of long term success.

Top247 DB Steven Ortiz talks Minnesota commitment

“They are on the rise and the coaches are very trustworthy. Now it’s about continuing to build something special, really. The more guys I can help recruit to come with me, we’ll build something. I can promise you that. We’re going to have the No. 1 recruiting class in Minnesota history.”

Ortiz has yet to step foot in Minneapolis, but did take a virtual tour recently that made a tremendous impression. The Huskies at one point held all the votes in the 247Sports Crystal Ball but coach P.J. Fleck and his staff quickly closed the gap since joining the chase with an offer on Mar. 16.

I can't recall the last time the Gophers beat out the likes of Washington, Penn St, Nebraska and Oregon for a west coast recruit. This kid was a hard Washington lean until late last night and then all of a sudden 247's crystal ball numbers started changing .. which tells me Fleck & Co. are up to some shady ass shit.

They promised him he would never have to hear from you again.

Shit like this.

1. Yes, only MN fans tweet recruits
2. Clearly its what swayed him

You realize our top Wr is from Georgia and he held an offer from Georgia who tried to poach him late? Recruits love fleck.

while we don't have long list of all pros (or even one) we've put few DB's in the NFL recently

Eric Murray
Brock Vereen
Cedric Thompson
Jalen Myrick
Briean Boddy-Calhoun

just few off top of my head that have been drafted and or played in NFL.

Fleck has something about him that baffles me. Give him 10 minutes and he can sell ice to eskimos. It amazes me.
