Keep the picks, if there is somebody we want in the 2,3,4,5 we can easily use a pick next year to fill the the gap!!:)

Yes, this is another possibility. I would try to avoid this but its a possibility.

Palazzolo's 49ers selection at No. 31, however, differs from McShay's. While the latter went with a cornerback, the Pro Football Focus analyst has San Francisco adding some help along the defensive line, possibly mitigating the loss of Buckner.

Palazzolo has defensive lineman Jordan Elliott of Missouri being added to the 49ers roster and writes the following about the selection.

Elliott is still flying under the radar after posting the top pass-rushing grade in the class a year ago (91.1). He wins with burst, pad level and hand usage, a nice combination that should help mitigate the loss of DeForest Buckner — and at a much cheaper price.
Elliott recorded 68 tackles, 16.5 for a loss, and 5.5 sacks in his final two seasons with the Tigers after transferring from Texas.

Hey now, maybe we pass on Kinlaw and target a WR or CB first? We might even trade down from 13th and still get a WR or CB.

Then look at someone like Elliot or Blacklock at 31st?

I'm for one trade down only as we need quality, not quantity. I'd even be ok with no trade down, as the 5th year option is big.

… I’d say there are five positions where a rookie could start. In order of likelihood: No. 2 wide receiver, right guard, right cornerback, defensive tackle and offensive tackle.

Consider the presumptive starters at those positions before the draft: Kendrick Bourne, Daniel Brunskill/Tom Compton, Emmanuel Moseley, Solomon Thomas? and Joe Staley, who appears likely to return for a 14th season but has yet make his official announcement on Zoom.

Up to reading this, i've been assuming Staley will play all season?!

Ok so if he announces he'll retire, that throws everything off. In this scenario it could easily go LT as the first pick.

Or a tackle I'm not convinced they won't try McGlinchy at LT first.

Ok, this is a possibility too, a "RT" an dmove McGlinchey to the left. In this scenario we wouldn't spend either 1st round picks on RT.

Andrew Thomas OT Georgia. If he's there @ 13, I would have zero problem with that pick. He's played guard before, and you can start him there, and move him to tackle when Staley calls it a day. Glinch should stay at RT.

IF Staley hangs it up now, i wouldn't have a problem with this either. As much as we all want that dynamic passing game, we can't throw consistently without protection. In this scenario, yeah try Thomas out at LT first.

If Staley remains, don't see us drafting OT at 13th.

Even if Staley sticks around, I can definitely see taking Thomas and starting him at guard. Get a potential elite T when we'll be unlikely drafting this high for a couple more years barring something....

If we don't go WR at 13th, there are still options late 1st, early 2nd in a trade down. But i wouldn't wait till late 2nd or later. We need someone who can go vertical ala the Goodwin role. Not just get downfield but also 'high point' or otherwise catch the ball. Goodwin didn't catch all the ones that he should have caught.

In return we can give up some on 'slot' guy, a red zone guy, a combo return guy, a combo runner guy, best blocker guy, or whatever else. We already have all these guys on the roster. If we don't draft WR at 13th, then the one we do draft needs to be good downfield receiver.

The 49ers own the Nos. 13 and 31 picks in the draft. And they could use that first selection on a wide receivers. The top options are Jerry Jeudy (Alabama), CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma) and Henry Ruggs (Alabama).

If the 49ers trade back from No. 13 or use their second first-rounder to select a wideout, Justin Jefferson (LSU), Tee Higgins (Clemson), Laviska Shenault Jr. (Colorado), Brandon Aiyuk (Arizona State) and Denzel Mims (Baylor) are among the possibilities.

Do the 49ers need to come out of this draft with a No. 1 wideout? Maybe not. Tight end George Kittle is the team’s No. 1 target, and Samuel is to be a good fit for the offense. Bourne proved to be reliable and could take on more responsibility, too.

The 49ers, however, can benefit from a player who can stress a defense, whether he’s a deep threat on the outside, a red-zone target or a reliable player working the middle of the field to give Jimmy Garoppolo another option on third downs.

Yes, the most common situation we'll need this WR for, is that 3rd and 10, 3rd and 12, etc. So someone who can consistently run 10-12 yard routes. Get off the line, run the good route, which should get you open. Ideally we need someone who can run outside cause we already have guys who can run 'inside'.

If we don't draft a WR in round 1 or 2, then at least draft someone who's best trait is going vertical, ie stress the defense ala Goodwin. Obviously, this guy won't have as many good traits as Round 1, nor the speed of Goodwin, but at least go vertical when called.

I think they make at least one trade back and end up with a WR, CB, and maybe a DT out of the first two rounds. So likely trade down from 13.

These are the three positions that make sense but yes, if we want that 2nd rounder we'll need to trade down with the 13th. So now the question is how far down from 13th? I won't look at charts now but i'll guess down into the 20's? Do we want to trade down that far?

I don't know the answer cause it depends on how Lynch views prospects in this area of the board? But adding an All-Pro at 13th isn't a bad thing. For example, Kittle alone elevates the offense so much by himself. Do we want a lesser TE and in return add a starting DT? Or is having Kittle better and not being able to draft a 2nd round DT? Again, just an example

IF Lamb, Jeudy, or Ruggs is as advertised, one top WR will elevate the offense quite a bit. Even if we couldn't then draft a 2nd round DT, Ruggs alone would lift this offense reducing pressure on the D. Or Kinlaw alone would elevate the defense, even if this means we can't draft a 2nd round CB.

While we're trying to plug every hole, remember the other West teams have more holes.

I would guess they take a CB, and DT in the first rounds and a WR in the 2nd. Otherwise they only fill two positions.

I caught something on NFL Network the other day, someone said the 49ers uses zone coverage vice man. Not taking this as our CB's don't need to Man at all, but does make a difference in how we address CB.

Why Ruggs would be more than just speed to 49ers' offense

Up to reading this, had thought of Ruggs as mainly a speed guy. After reading this how can we pass on him should he still be on the board? Good route runner, inside and outside, only one drop (ie good hands), and will block. IF this is all true then this is a complete No. 1 WR.

If he was 2 inches taller, would he be the top rated WR?

Ok he isn't 2 inches taller and hence isn't the top rated WR. But to me he still checks all the boxes for a No. 1 WR. Granted i am going by this article but also note it isn't just one person's opinion in it.

Is he clearly more value than Kinlaw or CJ Henderson, or an OT? We can only wait and see?

Yeah it will be interesting because of how deep the class is in WR talent. I would guess that if they view them all as equal than they go with Henderson or Kinlaw because they could still get a very good WR at 31 or in the 2nd should they trade back.
